Earlier this month, we celebrated our annual Screening to Survivorship Cancer Awareness Walk at the Mercy Health – O’Brien Cancer Center (Lorain, Ohio). More than 40 people joined us to take in the beautiful day and walk the "Mercy Mile" around the facility in honor of those who have been impacted by cancer. Cancer survivors kicked off the event by ringing the bell. Mita Patel, MD, David Barron, MD, Kate Clancy, MD and Elizabeth Carek, APRN-CNP were all on hand to discuss the importance of screenings, as well as the services available at Mercy Health for cancer patients.

This fall, Lima Market President, Ronda Lehman visited Ohio Northern University's Claude W. Pettit College of Law to address the “Legal Association of Women”. The Legal Association of Women is a forum for addressing legal issues that affect future female attorneys through various activities and events. Ronda was invited to speak at the Continuing Legal Education Event, titled "The Relationship Between Healthcare and Lawyers," regarding Access to Care. The goal of the presentation was to show how attorneys interact with the healthcare system on behalf of their clients to ensure individuals' access to healthcare. Through the speakers, the forum shared how many individuals work to ensure patients have access to healthcare. Ronda was asked to shed a unique light on the hospital’s relationship to the community and the ways in which we help the local community get access to healthcare.

ACOs are groups of doctors, hospitals, and other health care professionals that work together to provide Medicare patients high-quality, coordinated, and cost-efficient health care. Participating since 2012, Mercy Health Select is currently caring for over 107,000 Medicare patients in Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia. MHS has been a top ten ACO, out of 480 ACOs across the country, for earned shared savings for the past three years.
