Projects like our backpack distribution, mobile gardens and park bench fitness program are an important part of how we help improve the health of our communities. Recently, we had a visit from the Indiana Department of Health, who provided us with a valuable grant to help support these projects. Our statewide program coordinator, Sarah Wewe, was able to see all the projects in action, and here's what she had to say: "You are making such an impact in your community, and we are very thankful to partner with you and see the amazing work you are doing with the grant money." Thank you, Sarah! And thank you to a few of our amazing community partners who help make these projects a reality: Cultivate Food Rescue and the Tolson Center! #CommunityHealthcare #CommunityHealth

"In Washington DC's Wards 7 & 8, home to 22% of the population in our nation's capital, just 1 major grocery store serves 85,000 residents." Do you know Tiffany FitzGerald, the dynamic social entrepreneur and change maker who is building an impactful Food as Medicine movement in our nation's capital? As executive director of DC Greens she and her talented team demonstrate what is possible when community residents and community based nonprofits work together to tackle a shameful reality, a lack of access to food and health care, legacies of decades of racism in policy making. You need to hear her talk about creating #TheWellatOxonRun, an incredible urban farm that produces an abundant harvest of fruits and vegetables, gardens, yoga classes, activities for children and the green space we all need for our mental well-being. And there is the PrescriptionRX program, which engages health professionals in prescribing fruits and vegetables as a medical intervention and provides community members with the funds needed to buy healthy food. And of course this work is strengthened by many great partners including: DC Fiscal Policy Institute Fair Budget Coalition Center for Good Food Purchasing Feeding America Capital Area Food Bank DC Justice Lab DC Department of Health USDA Cafritz Foundation The Rockefeller Foundation Bainum Family Foundation Prince Charitable Trusts. I promise that you will love this conversation! Please share with your networks. http://bit.ly/3PQtWyD #PrescriptionRX #CommunityBuilding #Coalitions #PolicyAdvocacy #BudgetAdvocacy #HealthEquity #SNAP #FoodasMedicine

At Bookz2tax, we believe in supporting organizations that make a difference in our communities. This month, we are shining a spotlight on Acta Non Verba, a nonprofit that is working to make healthy, family meals more accessible to everyone. Acta Non Verba (ANV) believes that everyone deserves to have access to fresh, nutritious food, regardless of their background or circumstances. They work to connect families with local farms and food pantries, and they also provide cooking classes and other resources to help families learn how to cook healthy meals at home. ANV's work is especially important during National Family Meals Month. Family meals are a cornerstone of a strong and healthy family, and they can help to improve children's academic performance, reduce stress levels, and build stronger bonds between family members. By supporting Acta Non Verba, we can help to make healthy family meals a reality for more families. Together, we can build a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. 🌟 Today was a day filled with gratitude and collaboration at Farmhouse Rescue. We were honored to host a fantastic group of volunteers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast. Together, we rolled up our sleeves, dove into the work, and were reminded once again of the incredible power of community. 💪 Seeing everyone get thoroughly stuck in was a true testament to the spirit of giving back and making a difference. Their dedication and enthusiasm served as a reminder of how fortunate we are to have such amazing nonprofits rooting for us. 🤝 Collaborations like these highlight the immense good we can achieve when we come together. By pooling our resources, talents, and passions, we can create positive change that reverberates far beyond the confines of our individual organizations. 🌈 Let's continue to foster these partnerships, nurture our community bonds, and strive towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all. Yea it’s a five minute video, who watches those anymore! However, if you followed us over the course of Serve Week 2024 (The Ocho) this is an awesome wrap up and great work by the team. We try and use LinkedIn to open a window into our culture. And while Foundry Commercial isn’t perfect and we will always have work to do in pursuit of our standards, I think this is one of the things we get really right. We are a services company and spending time with these amazing organizations, which we encourage you to check out and support, reminds us what true service looks like. It is a week where we try to give back and we always end up getting so much more than we give. Great job Lauren and the entire Serve Week support team. #foundrycommercial #itspersonal #theocho #serveweek2024

Chief Financial Officer | Chief People Officer | Servant Leader | Team Builder | I help people and companies achieve goals!
Today felt like the perfect time to jump back into LinkedIn. The last 10-12 months have been quite a journey both personally and professionally. This post isn't meant to relive the last year but to encourage everyone that when your life is turned upside down unexpectedly, it can lead to wonderful outcomes. I found through prayer, reflection, and unwavering support from friends and family, what was initially something extraordinarily difficult became a true blessing. Some will notice I have a "gap" in my work history now. About 4 months. 4 months to jettison a lot of baggage, get my mind and body back to neutral (thank you Brendan Ferns for recommending Getting to Neutral by Trevor Moawad), and to dream again. 4 months to reconnect with my wife and start to make decisions that are focused on me and my family first, not what a job might dictate or require. Call it a gap or a sabbatical or whatever you'd like; I knew in order to be the best for my family and for wherever I chose to go professionally, I had to reset. In October of 2023 I got to meet with some of the team at Grubb Ventures. I wasn't sure if I was ready to come off the sidelines yet. Was I mentally ready? Did I complete my "factory reset?" A few things were clear that were critical to me: 1. The leaders truly cared about the people there. It wasn't lip service or just some core value splattered on a wall. 2. They believed the company was ready to make smart, strategic changes in response to recent growth (I like leading through change believe or not). 3. Grubb cares about the community they live and work in. I joined Grubb as its CFO in November (I know I'm late posting about it). And today we sorted and packed eggs at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC. We did it together. Just like we do each day at the office. I'm so thankful to the team at Grubb for choosing me. I'm grateful to everyone who supported me this last year, especially my wife and family. And while I know God doesn't ever have to reveal His plan for me, I'm blessed that He continues to orient my steps.
Volunteering in our community is one of the many ways #GVgivesback. This week, the Grubb Ventures team spent a busy morning at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC helping sort and package 7,000lbs of locally sourced eggs to share with over 500,000 members of our underserved communities in Central and Eastern North Carolina. #team #community
