A few months ago, I was spending my days discussing and debating various aspects of feminism with my classmates and teachers. In one of the classes on Gender & Power, where we were discussing gender in work place, I had an epiphany -- I am not as radical a feminist as most people around me were. I was happy with small progresses, I was trying to take a holistic view, understanding the challenges of the "oppressors" too. I wondered if that made me a bad feminist!? By the end of the course, I realised no one is a good feminist. All of us lack in our motivations, our agendas, and even our vision for the future. Our privileges, our experiences, and our intentions will always impact how we see things. And that there is nothing absolutely right in the way we seek solutions to problems around gender disparity in most spaces -- especially the corporate world, which is an anti-feminist institution from the very basic structure of it. That's why I was quite intrigued by the debate Zomato's women's day campaign started in the comments section of my earlier LinkedIn post. I saw a few other posts and commentaries and was really impressed by the kind of conversations that were happening around. So, for my latest story, I connected with a few ladies active in the branding world to understand this campaign from their perspective. We discussed why it works and where it lacks. By the end of it, I had my story, an overview of Zomato's feminist politics at workplace (should I write an academic kind of piece to explore that?), and some suggestions for the brand to improve.
