Ever wondered why some days you're on top of the world and other days you just want to hide under your blanket? The answer lies within our own bodies, in the intricate dance of hormones. Hormones play a pivotal role in shaping our emotions, moods, and overall well-being. These are anything but constant. They ebb and flow throughout the day, leading to our ever-changing emotional states. Factors like circadian rhythms, stress, and even food intake can affect their levels. This explains why you might wake up feeling fantastic one day and less so the next. If you find that hormonal fluctuations significantly impact your daily life and emotional well-being, consider consulting a healthcare professional. They can provide guidance and treatment options tailored to your needs. Understanding your hormonal fluctuations is the first step toward managing your emotional well-being.

How Essential Oils Can Change Our Brain and Health for the Better On the biochemical level, essential oils can impact brain health, signaling, and function. They can impact brain waves and neurochemistry. In fact, they have been shown to modulate neurotransmitters as well as protect the brain from oxidative stress. On the physiological level, essential oils and certain fragrances have been shown to alter brain wave patterns, affecting concentration, focus, relaxation, and emotions. In fact, an in-depth review article has provided us with a handy chart with specific examples of this (see link). It is important to note the individual differences in aromatic preferences and gender can affect these patterns. Through their multi-system effects on our brain and body, essential oils can alter our behavior which can result in more positive social connections. Studies have even supported the use of essential oils for easing the symptoms of addictive substance withdrawal. I have used them in my practice to help my clients in following through with greater self-care and assist with the release of unwanted reactionary patterns that sabotage their relationships. Human bonds are an often-overlooked epigenetic influencer of undue stress and physical ailments. By assisting with alleviating emotional toxicity and enhancing emotional intelligence, essential oils can help create more fulfilling, healthier, and longer lives. These effects are more impactful than any other physical risk factor alone! Learn more in the post and I also provide an example of an oil blend that can enhance self-nurturing and grounding. Have you used essential oils for your mental health, emotions, and self-care? I am excited to collaborate with several organisations this week and undertake my sugar detox challenge to support mental well-being. 🧠🍏 The brain requires a constant supply of fuel, which comes from the foods you eat. The quality of that fuel makes a significant difference. What you eat affects the structure and function of your brain and, ultimately, your mood. 🍎🥗 A key factor in brain health is a protein called Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), which helps maintain and create connections between brain cells. 🧬 When BDNF levels are low, it can lead to issues with brain function, including reduced neuron activity and an increased risk of depression. 😔 Sugar consumption can negatively affect BDNF levels, making it important to monitor and reduce sugar intake. 🍭❌ #sugardetox #mentalwellbeing #employeewellness

Today is World Brain Day 🧠 Did you know that our gut affects far more than just our digestion? It actually plays a crucial role in our emotional health. This is because our brain and gut are closely contacted via the gut-brain axis ☝️ A healthy gut flora has an anti-inflammatory effect, supports the intestinal barrier and produces metabolic products that influence emotions and stress resistance. The hormone serotonin, of which 95 % is produced in the gut, plays a key role in our mood and brain development. A lack of serotonin is associated with mental illnesses such as depression 😯 Read more about this here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/duY5RC8w

Maintaining a healthy weight is intricately linked to improved mental health through the fascinating interplay of fat cells and mood regulation. Adipose tissue, commonly known as body fat, is crucial in this connection. Fat cells release hormones, including leptin, a key player in stress resilience and anxiety reduction. Leptin acts as a signaling molecule to the brain, influencing the hypothalamus and areas responsible for mood control. Achieving and sustaining a healthy weight positively impacts this hormonal balance, ensuring optimal leptin levels and promoting a more stable and positive mental state. National Healthy Weight Week serves as a timely reminder of the holistic benefits that mindful weight management brings to both physical and psychological well-being. #HealthyWeightMentalHealth #MindBodyConnection #LeptinAndMood #BrookLane
