“We have been filming with Randy since 2018 as part of a documentary we have been working on called WHAT A TRIP following work to legalize MDMA to treat PTSD. In June, an FDA Advisory Committee panel recommended against approval, showing a lack of understanding of the science. We made this short film to support a Veteran led call urging the FDA to listen to the science and approve MDMA therapy for PTSD: ABOUT OUR FILM WHAT A TRIP is a documentary (in production since 2014) that is following the 40+ year journey to try and legalize MDMA assisted therapy. Our film includes stories of Veterans like Randy whose credit the MDMA therapy with saving their lives. A New York lawmaker has introduced a bill that would create a pilot program to provide psilocybin therapy to 10,000 people, focusing on military veterans and first responders, while the legislature also considers broader psychedelics reform. It would create the program under the state Department of Health, which would be required to provide funding to cover the therapy and develop training guidelines for professional facilitators. It would need to issue a report on findings and policy recommendations to the governor and legislature every two years after enactment. A total of 10,000 patients could participate, including veterans and their families, first responders and people who suffer from cluster headaches. They would need to reside in the western region of New York. The pilot program would end if psilocybin is approved for medical use by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA). #psychedelics #magicmushrooms #psilocybin #psilocybinresearch #psychedelicsresearch #psychedelictherapy #psilocybintheraphy #psychedelicspolicy #psilocybinlegalization https://lnkd.in/gVahkpHD

Lawmakers in Missouri’s House of Representatives have given preliminary #approval to a budget #bill that would spend $10 million from #state #opioid settlement #funds on #research #grants to #study the use of #psilocybin to treat opioid use #disorder. A Stanford University study published earlier this year found that #military combat #veterans with traumatic brain injury (#tbi) saw “dramatic” and “life-changing” improvements in their #symptoms and #cognitive functioning immediately after receiving treatment with #ibogaine. In response to the increased demand for #research, DEA has proposed a dramatic escalation in the production quota for ibogaine and other #psychedelic #compounds in 2024. In the coming decades, Missouri is set to receive hundreds of millions of dollars in opioid-related settlement funds. 🇺🇸🌿 While Veterans Day 2023 may have come and gone, it's crucial to remember that the issues veterans face when it comes to accessing #medicalcannabis persist all year long. 🌿🇺🇸 ✅ In 2017, an American Legion study found that 83% of veterans reported that the federal government should legalize cannabis. (https://lnkd.in/gXcS-hH4) 🚀 More recently, public support for cannabis legalization hit an all-time high, with 70% of Americans expressing that marijuana use should be legal, according to a Gallup poll conducted Oct. 2-23, 2023. 🍃 Many veterans find relief from various physical and mental health conditions through medical cannabis, yet they often encounter barriers to accessing this treatment option due to federal illegality. It's time to have an open and informed conversation about this issue. We must advocate for policies that make medical cannabis more accessible to veterans who can benefit from its therapeutic properties. Also, consider supporting cannabis brands and organizations that are supporting veterans not just on Veterans Day but all year long. Let's not confine our appreciation for veterans to a single day each year. Instead, let's work together to ensure they have the access they need to the treatments that can make a real difference in their lives. #Veterans #SupportOurVeterans #MedicalCannabisAccess #HealthcareForVeterans #VeteransDayEveryDay
Many military veterans are barred from accessing medical #cannabis due to its illegality at the federal level. While there are some promising studies and many personal anecdotes on the positive effects of weed on PTSD, veterans with no safe or legal access to the plant may never receive the care they need or may even face criminal charges. To counter the deep-rooted stigma still surrounding the use of cannabis, especially by those who've served in the US military, many organizations led by veterans are advocating for reform, supporting open access to cannabis for veterans and for all. What the heck is FDA Priority Review? 6 months instead of 10 months. That's why the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) date of August 11, 2024 is super important. That could be the date that MDMA therapy for PTSD is approved! Read more in the comments! #MDMA #psychedelictherapy
