Third SMCC interview posted today. Thank you so much to all of you past ‘Perishers’ for your submissions. Please keep them coming, you are crucial to sharing the lessons available on the course and encouraging others to follow in your footsteps. SMCC is ‘doable’ if you learn the lessons that will be available to you in your career as a Warfare Officer sooner than you may think. If you are a Warfare Officer, you’re already on an exciting apprenticeship to command. If you want to be one, or manage someone who does, get in touch. 10 seconds to realise you’ve got 10 seconds to let the periscope window clear, know what you’re looking at, make a decision, get the boat going in the right direction, give the right order, start the right stop watch and get the team with you. By this point it’s too late and the decision needed to be made 10 seconds ago. It’s not all about moments like this but they happen and how you prepare now, determines how much of that ten seconds you get that aren’t fogged out by stressful cognition.

This is what BCPS does with CCBC!
We had a fantastic time participating in this week's Baltimore County Public Schools Career Expo at Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville! It was inspiring to see hundreds (maybe thousands) of students eager to explore future career opportunities right here in our community. "Every time we invest in our students, we are at the same time investing in our communities." - Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis, Ph.D, CBCC President. With over 300 program and workforce options available at CCBC, we were proud to share the diverse career paths students can pursue in their own backyard. Events like these are invaluable for connecting students with local career and apprenticeship programs. A big shoutout to the Baltimore County government, BCPS, and CCBC for their collaboration in making this event possible!

National youth employment expert; passionate about community & opportunity for all, College Governor and Deputy Lieutenant
Providing data, evidence and insight to our Members about all things youth employment is exactly what we are here for. Youth Employment UK has expert knowledge across the whole youth employment landscape, what is driving youth unemployment, what the system issues are, what young people aged 11-30 including those who are NEET are telling us what works and does not work and of course what the impacts and plans are of policy and policy makers. Add in the expert insight we have on what makes #GoodYouthEmployment and the value of Membership speaks for itself. For 12 years we have been digging into the issues and solutions and given that youth unemployment is a growing issue, we absolutely need to see more of that expert insight put into practice by employers, providers and policy makers. Employers who understand the issues facing young people are much better equipped to ensure that their business is part of the solution and having a real people, social and future skills impact. We will keep adding value to our Members through our events, resources and research.
