The Gamuda Australia John Holland team marked major progress on the M1 Extension from Raymond Terrace to Tomago by lifting the first Super-T girders for the 2.6km viaduct over the Hunter River. Another nine girders were installed over the New England Highway in just two nights, bringing the team a step closer to transforming connectivity and boosting infrastructure in the region.

An exciting update for the $2.3bn Long Bridge Project!   The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) has finalized its team for the project, a game-changing initiative to expand rail capacity and improve travel in the region.   The south package contract was awarded to Long Bridge Rail Partners, a joint venture including PJ Dick - Trumbull - Lindy, S&B USA Construction & Fay, and Wagman, with STV as lead designer. The north package is led by Skanska and Flatiron Construction.   This project will: - Add a new two-track rail bridge over the Potomac. - Build a pedestrian and cyclist bridge. - Relieve congestion on the existing bridge, which operates at 98% capacity during peak hours.   With completion targeted for 2030, this project will enhance service for CSX, Amtrak, and VRE passengers, paving the way for more frequent and reliable travel.   Article link in the comments.

Balfour Beatty VINCI wins $746M I-35 Capital Express Contract The Texas Dept. of Transportation has awarded a $746-million contract to British-based Balfour Beatty to construct 2.5 miles of its Interstate 35 Capital Express Central project. This section of I-35’s upgrade will start south of downtown Austin during the first half of 2025 and be completed by 2033. Known as the Lady Bird Lake segment, it will reconstruct a bridge over the 417-acre Lady Bird Lake, add two high-occupancy-vehicle management lanes in each direction, build an interchange for access to future light rail routes, build a walkers-only bridge and enhance bike and walking paths. #Stainless #steel has been increasingly used in #bridge construction due to its numerous advantages: #Durability and #CorrosionResistance: Stainless steel is inherently corrosion resistant. This intrinsic characteristic is particularly important for bridges, which often need a long service life with minimum maintenance. Corrosion resistance allows it to perform satisfactorily in a wide range of environments without protective coatings. #HighStrength-to-#WeightRatio: Stainless steel has a very high strength-to-weight ratio, which increases design flexibility and decreases costs. For modern bridgework requiring stainless steel, #duplex has become the material of choice. #CostEffective: Although stainless steel is inherently more expensive than some competing materials, its strength and corrosion-resistance enable thinner sections and panels to be used, making it more cost-competitive. In some cases, operators may choose to leave all or part of the carriages unpainted, which offers further savings in cost and weight. #Sustainability: Stainless steels offer an extremely attractive way of providing structural integrity over unlimited time, thanks to their high strength and their corrosion resistance that meets all climates and weather conditions. #InnovativeDesign: Choosing a high-strength, duplex stainless steel enables structural engineers to create slender and lightweight beams that can support the same loads as standard i-beams made from carbon steel that have a much larger cross section. These innovative uses of stainless steel not only enhance the functionality and safety of bridges but also contribute to their #aesthetic appeal and #sustainability

**T1-RJS JV Awarded $33.2 Million GSA Contract** We're honored to announce that T1-RJS Joint Venture, LLC (Tribal One and RJS Construction Inc.) has secured a $33.2 million contract from the GSA for a significant design-build lane expansion project at the Pacific Highway Land Port of Entry (LPOE) in Blaine, WA. Set to begin construction in spring 2025, this project will enhance border security and efficiency by adding four new lanes, replacing seven security booths, and increasing inspection capabilities significantly.
