  • 🌟🌟🌟 That's 6-Stars for our Waterloo Station 🌟🌟🌟 The opening of Waterloo Station on the Sydney Metro city southwest line in August was a proud moment for the John Holland team who built the state-of-the-art station with innovative sustainable construction methods, community engagement and social inclusion as top priorities. It's now been awarded a 6-star Green Star rating and we couldn't be prouder to have these sustainability measures recognised: ⛽ the use of 149,000 litres of B5 Biodiesel during construction 💡 the offset of 25-percent of total electrical needs during construction 🪨 optimised concrete mixtures replacing cement content with 46-percent fly ash and slag 🚛 locally supplied concrete from batching plant reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transport 🏗️ speedpanels used as an alternative to blockwork to reduce concrete material use ♻️ various community benefit programs including plastic recycling, coffee cup recycling and an OzHarvest food drive Let's hear it for Waterloo! #ItsAJohnHollandJob #BuiltByJohnHolland #JohnHollandTransformingLives

🌟 As a leader in digital construction, John Holland is at the forefront of using innovation to improve safety and performance! 🚧✨ The use of digital twin technology in particular has revolutionised construction methodology, especially in tight urban sites with limited access. It also offers unparalleled insights in the rail sector for asset management, performance, and systems. 🤝💡 It’s one of the reasons why our customers trust John Holland to create smart solutions for their most complex challenges. Development of a digital twin was key to the successful delivery of a project to add capacity to a section on the Sydney Trains network, including: • ⚡ New electrical substations in Mascot and Wolli Creek • 🕳️ New underground, accessible 390-metre cable tunnel 📈🔧 As part of our Next Rail partnership with Transport for NSW and Jacobs, we used real-time data from existing infrastructure and services in the area to develop a digital replica of the site. This informed design and construction, sequencing, coordination, and reduced the risk of delays and rework. 🚄🌆 Not only did this digital-first approach enable large-scale electrical infrastructure to be integrated into densely populated Mascot, but it has also created a template for modern, practical, and digital delivery of urban rail infrastructure. #InnovationAtJohnHolland #JohnHollandTransformingLives #ItsAJohnHollandJob

At Waterfront Brisbane, we’re not just focused on what we’re building, but how we’re building it. This commitment spans community engagement, sustainability, material selection, technology, partnerships, and innovative construction methods. Our construction methodology animation showcases the carefully planned sequencing of works by our delivery partner, John Holland, leveraging the prime riverside location, optimising the tight site footprint, and phasing construction to minimise disruption to public access. This approach ensures the new Riverwalk will be delivered by January 2026, with the balance of stage one of Waterfront Brisbane following in 2028.

  • 🔥 Where there's smoke there's... a new connection to country at the site of our Belmont Desalination Plant project. Our Belmont team were welcomed to make a connection with the land where John Holland is delivering this critical water infrastructure for Hunter Water. The Bahtabah Local Aboriginal Land Council conducted the smoking ceremony to cleanse the site and repel bad spirits, and each member of the team was invited to forge their own connection through this ritual. Local Aboriginal artefacts including stone axes, shields and boomerangs were also on display. Site establishment works are continuing on site this month, including the installation of site boundary fences, and construction of worker site compounds and car parks. 🚰 We're looking forward to making progress on delivering the desalination plant that's set to form part of the Lower Hunter’s water supply system for the future! #JohnHollandTransformingLives #JustAddJohnHolland #ItsAJohnHollandJob

🤔 Q: How do you install 699 super T-bridge girders to build a viaduct over the M1 motorway efficiently AND safely? 🏗️ A: By building a girder access platform that eliminates the need for workers to work from an elevated platform! This groundbreaking method was introduced to enhance safety for workers and reduce the delays experienced by road users due to quicker installation times. The girders - or concrete beams - are being used to construct the ten-kilometre section of the project from Black Hill to Tomago, which includes a 2.6-kilometre bridge over the New England Highway and Hunter River at Hexham. The girder access platforms attach to both ends of each girder before installation and combined with a headstock walkway system and access tower, reduces the risk for our crews working at heights when unhooking the lifting chains from the top of the girder. The girder access platform is now being used for the construction of several new bridges on the Black Hill to Tomago section of the project. #JohnHollandTransformingLives #ItsAJohnHollandJV #JohnHollandGamuda

🌉 We're not just building roads, bridges, tunnels and railways, we're building a culture of equality. 🙌🏽 In the world of construction, we're all about turning plans into reality, and we've celebrated International Women's Day during the last two weeks to better understand what that means at John Holland. 👷🏽♀️ Our Cairns Water Security Stage 1 project team hosted the local Mayor of Cairns Regional Council Amy Eden for a guided site tour with female construction workers. 👷♀️At our Torrens to Darlington Project in Adelaide, our team hosted a networking event to hear from female leaders and discuss how to accelerate action on bringing change to the industry. 👷🏽♀️At Melbourne's Flinders Gate office we heard from guest speaker Sarah Holdsworth - researcher at RMIT University School of Property, Construction and Project Management about how far the industry has come... and still has to go. 👷♀️At Belmont near Newcastle, the team at our Desalination Plant project hosted a panel of female leaders to talk about their achievements in the construction industry and how we can inspire more women to see themselves in it. 👷♀️Our Parramatta Light Rail stage 2 enabling works team hosted a visit from team members at Parramatta Women's Shelter where local women and children can receive care, resources, and support they need during times of hardship. 👷🏽♀️ Our Upper South Creek team in Southwest Sydney hosted a female Bonnyrigg High School student with support from the KARI Foundation who experienced what it was like to spend a day on a construction site. 👷♀️ Our West Australian Rail Services team celebrated with morning tea and a talk from Aideen Gillies - a senior female leader from the Port Hedland office, along with recognition of long service awards for two team members. Here's to more progress on bringing better equality to our industry, one pair of steel capped boots at a time! #ItsAJohnHollandJob #BuiltByJohnHolland #JohnHollandTransformingLives #JHWomenInConstruction

  • Jaime Petrie's rise: from Contracts Administrator to Commerical Manager 👷♀️ Jaime Petrie's rise in the construction industry began after she completed a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Psychology and a Business Admin Certificate III. Starting as a Contract Administrator for John Holland she contributed to major projects like the award-winning Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 1 and the Clarence Correctional Centre. Her skills and leadership earned her a promotion to Commercial Manager during the Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre project. 🏥Jaime plays a key role in delivering vital social infrastructure, working closely with our subcontracting partners and benefitting local communities by advocating for local workforce and business participation. 🙌🏽 She was handpicked for John Holland's Future Leaders program, where she cultivated her leadership talents and strategic outlook. Her advice to young starters in construction? "Stay curious! Ask questions and focus on learning rather than proving yourself. "Being reliable, showing up on time and putting in real effort will earn respect - a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn will open doors to better opportunities and long-term success," she said. #JHWomenInConstruction #JohnHollandTransformingLives #ItsAJohnHollandJob
