Sounds like an incredible event and a testament to A&G's commitment to community, innovation, and shaping a better world. I was recently introduced to Freight Farms (thank you A&G) and was inspired by their urban farming technology and the innovative impact they are having on communities of all sizes around the world. The possibilities are endless! Some impressive stats: a. The Freight Farms Greenery product can grow an astounding 2.5 acres of farm-fresh produce in a 40 x 8-foot container and deliver an annual harvest of 2-6 tons. b. Freight Farms’ hydroponic technology uses 99% less water than traditional agriculture. c. It also allows people to grow global ingredients 365 days a year, just steps outside their kitchen – no matter where that kitchen might be. d. The technology provides an environment for inner city children to learn about – and even help grow – healthy foods.
Wrote a little something. So very grateful for the incredible brands, clients and people I get to work with everyday at Allen & Gerritsen and who bring so much to the table. Here’s to joining forces to shape a better world! #community #connectivity #collectiveaction #brandiswhatyoudo #gratitude Museum of Science Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts YOTEL Omni Hotels & Resorts Meet Boston Eastern Bank

The International Downtown Association’s Annual Conference always fills my cup. This year, it was hosted in Chicago at the beautiful Palmer House. Highlights: - Reconnecting with the 2018 Emerging Leaders Fellowship cohort. - Recognition for earning my Leadership in Place Management certification. - Sharing the experience with four dedicated board members Erik Gaikowski, Gregory Koch, Vaney Hariri, and Vernon Brown. - We also had the opportunity to connect with Jodi Schwan, who was visiting for the weekend and wrote an insightful piece about her experience! FWIW, here are my main takeaways from the IDA Conference: - Downtowns are an elixir for loneliness. - The best way to transform a neighborhood begins with the people there who experience it day in and day out. - The power of volunteerism cannot be underestimated. - Partnerships are essential to making downtowns work. - Diversity, equity, and inclusion is the result of action, not good intentions. - Placemaking is the art of activating underutilized spaces. It’s rarely successful without a purpose, vision, strategy, and partners. - The issues and opportunities downtowns face are universal. It’s just a question of scale. - The “downtown doom loop” narrative is a misguided perception. Just because downtowns are transitioning to more residential districts doesn’t mean they are any less significant as hubs of culture, community, and commerce. - Downtown CEO’s and Executive Directors are breaking the traditional command and control mold and leading creatively by putting their people first. - Downtown organizations get $h!t done! - Own your story because if you don’t, others will. #IDACHI23 #downtown #Chicago #DTSF #culture #community #commerce

📚 From intern to COO. 🚠 From 2 to 11 team members. 🚀 From an idea to a successful business. Turning a dream into reality requires perseverance. So much is not shown in the statements above: the constant learning, the camaraderie, the wins and losses, the tough decisions, the grit required to show up day and again amidst the excitement of uncertainty. To me, walking this path of entrepreneurship and leadership has not only shaped my growth as a professional but also as a human being. This journey continues to teach me how to evolve - in purpose and self-awareness, in always showing up, even when it is hard, and in holding tight to my values. In my new role as COO, I am eager to contribute to Behavioral Science Research Institute’s continued success by driving innovation and excellence while creating a supportive organizational infrastructure to meet our shared goals. I believe that by leading with our strengths and fostering a culture of integrity and collaboration, we can achieve everything we have set out to do and more. To my team - I both admire and am inspired by you. This promotion speaks volumes of BSRI’s organizational growth, which is a result of deep effort on behalf of many. There is still much to learn. I hope you all will continue to share your knowledge and wisdom with me in ways that challenge and spur my growth. To anyone else walking this path - I see you. I feel your victories and your struggles. It is worth every effort for the wisdom that will be gained along the journey - steady your vision and keep moving forward. #newheights #entrepreneurship #leadership #socialimpact #COO #BSRI

Last week, the Artemis Ward team had the chance to meet with leadership at Baltimore's Lexington Market, one of the oldest public markets in America (opened in 1782), followed by an inspiring conversation about the market's role as a community hub and civic asset in the heart of the city. A few big takeaways: 1). Civic spaces like Lexington Market operate best when observation, listening, and dialogue are constant and ongoing between leadership, vendors, and visitors. 2). While the vendors are there to turn a profit, the market is there to serve the community and preserve the public's trust. 3). Lexington Market knows who its community is and every decision the market's leadership makes is guided by an understanding of how the market can be a welcoming place that enhances their day-to-day lives. There are lessons here for every kind of org, company, or brand: Discovery is an act of listening, observing, and exchanging. Core values should define all decision-making. And the answer you're looking for always lies in your audience. Thanks to Jamal McCord, Jessica Blackwell Parks, and Abigail Lammel for having us in and for showing us what makes Lexington Market such an invaluable part of the Baltimore community. (And for taking a snapshot with me.)
