The available evidence is quite clear: video laryngoscopy is better for patients than direct laryngoscopy, and our patients deserve the best available care we can provide. There are too many good VL systems on the market to claim that your system can't find one to field in your ALS/MICU units, and several of them use the same blade geometries you're already carrying for DL. Train your people to set up VL, then execute DL unless a good view cannot be quickly established. If you do that first lift, a small shuffle, and a second lift and you don't have a Grade II or better view, then move your gaze from the throat to the camera's view and proceed under VL. It's genuinely no more complicated than that.

Should we be performing #dryeye evaluations on all of our #glaucoma patients? The evidence and my clinical experience certainly lean in that direction. Our OD colleagues, Justin Schweitzer, OD, FAAO and Jennifer Gould Blackmore OD MS FAAO, have a nice paper reviewing the connections between glaucoma and dry eye.
