How about if we eliminate the half-hearted efforts at recruiting students in high school? Give out diplomas after two years of high school where students learn valuable life skills in society, politics, finances, (fill in the blank). Then, at the age of 16, they can now move on the community college (or 4-year, if they qualify), trade apprenticeship, start a career or a business and fill in the shortages about which we endlessly moan and groan. Just sayin'.
