Well-to-gate emissions are a methodology for measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that only includes emissions up to the point of production. Well-to-gate emissions exclude transportation and final use of a product.

Mr. Deepak Kumar Aggarwal, Scientist-F at Bureau of Indian Standards, notes that substantial progress has been made in developing key standards for hydrogen, with many more in progress. The next phase will focus on expanding these standards, prioritising safety in hydrogen production, storage, and usage. Mr. Rolf Behrndt, Sr. Hydrogen Expert from Germany, explained that while clusters and hubs are sometimes used interchangeably, they have distinct differences. Clusters are geographic concentrations of industries in the same sector, whereas hubs focus more on logistics. Notably, clusters may face challenges with offtake, underscoring the need to understand these concepts in their specific contexts. Shri. Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, highlighted significant progress in the #GreenHydrogen sector, noting a 60-70% increase in production efficiency and improvements in thermal efficiency by 30-60%. He emphasised the environmental benefits of green hydrogen, particularly its zero carbon dioxide emissions, and cited India’s advantage due to its low costs and abundant renewable energy resources. He stated that India has the potential to become a leading exporter of #GreenHydrogen and its derivatives. Further to the discussion in Plenary Session 5: Netherland’s Initiatives on Hydrogen, HE Ms. Marisa Gerards, Ambassador, Kingdom of the Netherlands to India, Nepal and Bhutan, made an important announcement of an LOI signing between Chane and ACME Cleantech (ACME Group) , as a monumental collaborative step to build terminals for enhancing the efficiency of ammonia imports.
