Mr. Tobias Winter, Director, Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF-SO), discussed the crucial decisions ports face in balancing immediate economic gains with long-term strategic investments. Reflecting on his observations at the Port of Rotterdam, he noted that ports must decide between short-term revenue from container terminals and investing in future infrastructure such as large electrolyser fields, transformer stations for offshore wind power, and hydrogen pipelines. Winter emphasised that such choices require a vision for the future, considering both current needs and long-term benefits. #ICGH24 | #GreenHydrogenIndia | #GH2 Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) | Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Govt of India | Department of Science & Technology, Government of India | Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) | Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited | FICCI | IREDA Ltd. | EY | Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited | Indian Oil Corp Limited | ReNew | AM Green Group | Gujarat Power Corporation Limited | Power Finance Corporation Ltd. | Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited | REC Limited | Avaada Group | Gentari | Welspun New Energy Ltd. | Oil India Limited / ऑयल इंडिया लिमिटेड | NHPC Limited | GAIL (India) Limited

Sales Manager at Linde Engineering India C/O Linde AG Germany - APAC Region - India| Green Hydrogen | SynGas/Polyolefins/Hydroprime mid| Experience in Precommisioning & operation
Well explained by Mr. Bakre, the Indian GH2 definition which is slightly different from other countries. Well-to-gate emissions are a methodology for measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that only includes emissions up to the point of production. Well-to-gate emissions exclude transportation and final use of a product.
Mr. Abhay Bakre, Mission Director at #NationalGreenHydrogenMission, MNRE explained that the Indian strategy for #GreenHydrogen involves defining thresholds for what qualifies as #GH2 based on its -well-to-gate emissions where the hydrogen produced should have emissions of less than 2 kg CO2 per kg of hydrogen to qualifies as green. This certification process will facilitate market evolution by ensuring compliance with national and international standards, promoting trade, and supporting a robust framework for the #GreenHydrogen sector at the Breakout 3C: Certification Requirement for Green Hydrogen Value Chain from a Lifecycle Perspective. #ICGH2024 #GreenHydrogenIndia #GH2 #ICGH24 Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) | Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Govt of India | Department of Science & Technology, Government of India | Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) | Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited | FICCI | IREDA Ltd. | Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited | Indian Oil Corp Limited | ReNew | AM Green Group | Gujarat Power Corporation Limited | Power Finance Corporation Ltd.

Ms. Anvesha Paresh Thakker, Partner, KPMG underlined the fact that the global energy sector is growing at 7.3% annually, with most of this growing demand being met through imports of oil, gas, and coal. India has made an early start with renewable energy, especially hydrogen, which offers great promise. It is crucial to indigenise the supply chain to avoid later vulnerabilities and position India as a major manufacturing hub, providing an alternative to countries like China. #ICGH2024 | #GreenHydrogenIndia | #GH2 | Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) | Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Govt of India | Department of Science & Technology, Government of India | Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) | Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited | FICCI | IREDA Ltd. | Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited | Indian Oil Corp Limited | ReNew | AM Green Group | Gujarat Power Corporation Limited | Power Finance Corporation Ltd.|

Mr. Rolf Behrndt, Sr. Hydrogen Expert from Germany, explained that while clusters and hubs are sometimes used interchangeably, they have distinct differences. Clusters are geographic concentrations of industries in the same sector, whereas hubs focus more on logistics. Notably, clusters may face challenges with offtake, underscoring the need to understand these concepts in their specific contexts. He also mentioned that offtake in the valleys is important in order to streamline the final output. #ICGH24 #GreenHydrogen #GreenHydrogenIndia #GH2 Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) | Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Govt of India | Department of Science & Technology, Government of India | Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) | Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited | FICCI | IREDA Ltd. | Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited | Indian Oil Corp Limited | ReNew | AM Green Group | Gujarat Power Corporation Limited | Power Finance Corporation Ltd.

Mr. Chintan Shah at ReNew, highlighted hydrogen's key role in integrating various sectors in India. From renewables to hydrogen electrolysis and ammonia production, the process requires complex integration. With long-term fixed-rate contracts, hydrogen can stabilise prices, similar to renewables for electricity. India's leadership in low-cost solar power positions it as a global contender in hydrogen. Mr. Shah calls for stronger collaboration, standardisation, and industry dialogue to drive the sector's growth. #ICGH24 | #GreenHydrogen | #GreenHydrogenIndia | #GH2 |Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) | Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Govt of India | Department of Science & Technology, Government of India | Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) | Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited | FICCI | IREDA Ltd. | EY | Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited | Indian Oil Corp Limited | ReNew | AM Green Group | Gujarat Power Corporation Limited | Power Finance Corporation Ltd. | Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited | REC Limited | Avaada Group | Gentari | Welspun New Energy Ltd. | Oil India Limited / ऑयल इंडिया लिमिटेड | NHPC Limited | GAIL (India) Limited|
