As leaders, there is a lot we can learn from Simone Biles. She is undeniably the leader of the US women’s Olympic gymnastics team. 1) The importance of recognizing and addressing your limits. Many people tout leaning into your strengths. While that is importance for deciding what roles are most suitable for you to succeed (e.g. Simone chose gymnastics over swimming), once you have selected a role, to become truly excellent, we have to recognize and address what is holding us back. Simone took two years off from gymnastics to work on strengthening her mental fitness and it paid off. 2) How to lift others up. She is the GOAT of gymnastics but instead bowed to a competitor. This can only be done from a place of self-confidence AND humility. #leadership #mentalhealth #olympics

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican tradition that honors deceased loved ones. Celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, it blends indigenous customs with Catholic influences, particularly the Feast of All Saints and All Souls' Day. Families create ofrendas (altars) adorned with photos, favorite foods, and mementos of the departed, inviting their spirits to return for a day and celebrate their life with loved ones. To celebrate, you can: 1. Create an ofrenda: Set up a small altar at home with items that represent your loved ones. 2. Decorate with marigolds: These vibrant flowers symbolize the fragility of life and help guide spirits. 3. Cook traditional foods: Prepare pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and other favorite dishes of the departed. 4. Share stories: Gather with family and friends to share memories and stories of those who have passed. 5. Participate in community events: Attend local celebrations, parades, or workshops to learn more about the traditions. By honoring and remembering those who have died, Día de los Muertos fosters a sense of connection and celebration of life! #diadelosmuertos #dayofthedead #tfcstrong #youarenotalone

Beautiful words from Amanda G. (thanks, Shelley Zalis, for sharing), and my heart and prayers go out to all those affected by the devastating LA fires 💔 I can’t stop thinking about the fires consuming us from all directions—whether war, wildfires, or pandemics—and what the universe is so desperately trying to teach us, yet we continue to fail to learn. From wisdom rooted in astrology and Ayurveda, I’ve gained insights that feel especially relevant today: We are transitioning from an era of earth (accumulation and security) to an era of fire. Fire can either burn destructively or transform beautifully—it depends on how we harness its power. In its raw form, fire is destructive. It burns, consumes, and devastates. But fire doesn’t have to destroy. According to Ayurveda, when fire is balanced with water—think of an oil lamp—it transforms. It provides light, warmth, and nourishment. And what is water? The ultimate feminine energy—nourishing, flowing, and able to run deep. This is the universe’s urgent lesson to us. Through global warming, pandemics, wars, natural disasters, and even the recent man-made epidemic of hate, it cries out for rebalancing. It’s urging us to recognize a fundamental truth: We are all one humanity. Unchecked “fire”—the ego, the pursuit of power over others, and selfish control—burns everything in its path. But when we temper fire with the “water” of kindness, compassion, and collaboration, we transform destructive power into nurturing strength and purposeful warmth. We cannot care only for ourselves. We are one humanity and share mutual responsibility: 🌍 For the planet. ❤️ For each other. ✨ For restoring balance in how we lead and live. Let 2025 be the year we truly learn this lesson and come together to protect ourselves from hate and destruction ✨ Lead with purpose. ✨ Lead with power with people, not power over people. ✨ Lead with kindness. #LeadLikeAGirl and bring more water to the flames—turn destruction into transformation, and build a future where humanity thrives together. Amen. ♥️
Thank you, Amanda Gorman, for your beautiful and compassionate words during this heartbreaking time for our city 💔

A Cindy Moment - Everyone has the gift! Love is the most potent currency in the world. Whether you’re aware of it or not, you wield the power to transform the world for the better, it doesn’t cost a thing. Each of us holds the capacity for kindness towards ourselves, our fellow humans, the environment, and animals. This month let’s set objectives to foster positive change in these areas. Consider the following: • For Yourself: What nurturing and restorative actions will you take for your own well-being? • For Others: What kind and considerate deeds will you perform to uplift those around you? • For the Environment: What initiatives will you undertake to contribute to the health of our planet? • For Animals: What compassionate acts will you do to improve the lives of the animals we share our world with? Day 81: How to Greet Elders the Traditional Way G’day legends! It’s Day 81 on the Whoop Whoop Walk About, and today, I’m diving into the heart of tradition – the respectful way to acknowledge an Elder when you're stepping onto their Country. Spoiler alert: It’s more than a handshake and a nod! Before the Corporate Spin Back in the day, there wasn’t a script or a plaque – it was all about genuine respect and meaningful exchange. When meeting an Elder: Bring a Gift 🎁: This wasn’t a “box of choccies” moment. You’d offer practical items like: Tools (stone axes, spearheads) Food (kangaroo tail, bush tucker treats) Personal treasures (like ochre or woven items). Ask Permission 🖐️: Politely explain your purpose, whether it’s: Passing through Hunting or fishing Seeking knowledge or marriage connections. Wait for Guidance: Elders would give advice, stories, or even restrictions about sacred sites, ensuring harmony with Country. Today’s Lesson: Respect First Even now, when you meet an Elder, start with acknowledgment: 🖤 Pay respect to their ancestors and their role as knowledge keepers. 💬 Speak humbly and show gratitude for being on their land. Bonus Tip: No need for a gift these days, but a kind word and listening ear go a long way. Bush Bloopers Alert! Once, I brought a shiny fishing lure as a gift. Turns out, it wasn’t exactly “traditional” – got a laugh, though! Lesson learned: authenticity beats flash every time.
