🌟 Exciting Insights from the UNEVOC Workshop on Apprenticeships in the UAE! 🌟 I had the privilege to present a transformative workshop focused on the evolution of apprenticeships in the UAE, aimed at aligning educational frameworks with the demands of a rapidly changing job market in the UAE. Key takeaways included: 🔍 A comprehensive overview of how competency-based national qualifications are shaping a skills-based economy in the UAE.  🤝 The importance of strengthening collaboration between educational providers and employers to foster workforce development and economic growth in the private sector.  🛠 Practical experiences from recent apprenticeship implementations that serve as a blueprint for success.  📈 Strategies for developing effective apprenticeship frameworks through Sector Development Committees, ensuring that training programs meet real-world demands.  ✅ An introduction to designing effective End Point Assessments (EPAs) that validate an apprentice’s journey, aligning with occupational standards and involving employers in measuring competencies. This workshop underscored the critical role of innovative apprenticeship programs in preparing our workforce for future challenges. I look forward to seeing how these initiatives will continue to evolve and drive positive change in UAE economy!

Did you know that in Nova Scotia there are 13 trades that are specified as compulsory certified? This means a person must have a certificate of qualification, be registered as an apprentice in that trade, possess a temporary permit issued by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, or have a certificate recognized by the Director of the Agency. What is it like to employ apprentices at an adaptive gym? Rachael Hutchinson from Able2B has shared with us how apprenticeships have supported her team to develop industry-specific skills. Able2B currently has apprentices on programme who work towards their their Personal Trainer and Physiotherapist qualifications. To access training funding for the apprenticeship programmes, Able2B also participated in the Levy Support Scheme and received levy transfers from East of England Co-op and Aviva saving the business the 5% co-investment fee towards the training cost.
