Today is International Data Center Day. Thank you to all the data center professionals working tirelessly to keep the world of technology moving forward. In 2003, I transitioned from maritime work to shore-side employment, joining the Data Center Operations division of Securities Industry Automation Corp (SIAC), now Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), supporting the NYSE and American stock exchanges. Over three years, I learned how to operate, maintain and install complex electrical & mechanical systems, honing my skills alongside seasoned professionals, in what was then a relatively "new" industry. Stepping into the data hall for the very first time, I couldn't help but think, "This looks just like something out of the movies!" Fast forward some two decades later, and I find myself well-established in an industry that not only constructs tomorrow's infrastructure but also pioneers new technologies and methodologies, reshaping global commerce and lifestyles. The buildings and systems we deliver to our clients, have a direct impact on the world's economy and how we all work and play. For me being able to contribute to a future, powered by technology and innovation, is truly fulfilling, it's not just bits and bytes. When a project is complete, I can see what I took part in building and that is very satisfying. I am a firm believer that our only boundary is the extent of our imagination.
