Ensuring meaningful engagement with youth is a top priority for IOM, involving collaboration with youth stakeholders, youth-led organizations and youth networks. IOM is actively participating in the United Nations' system-wide initiative to implement the Youth 2030: UN Youth Strategy. The primary focus for IOM’s youth engagement includes strengthening youth capacities on human mobility, building partnerships with youth, and implementing programmes designed with and for youth. #migration #youth #iom #migrantyouthtrends

How does the #EuropeanUnion support #youth in #enlargement and neighbourhood regions? In July the European Commission published an evaluation of actions during the period 2014-2021 (in Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood and the Western Balkans regions and Turkey). Here are some key findings: - EU support has evolved from being ad hoc and project-based to more strategic and better aligned with internal policies, - around 2017 there was a "policy shift in EU approaches to youth in external action" - "youth is no longer a marginal issue" , - it is estimated that the EU spent EUR 536.6 million in targeted actions to support youth in these regions, - EU support has generated positive effects particularly in economic integration and social inclusion (less in political participation, peace and security), - however, too many initiatives remain 'for' young people (not 'with' or 'by' them, even if this is well established principle on the policy side), - there is a need to increase capacity to work with young people across many different services, - structural challenges remain and there is a lack of shared vision and clear mandate on youth engagement; there is a need for geopolitical narrative on youth (not only developmental). There are a lot more insights in the full report, which you can find here https://lnkd.in/ecgetakP. #youthengagement #youthparticipation #youthprogrammes

Founder & C.E.O Niutele for Africa | Youth transformation advocate | I help young people unlock their leadership potential for global impact |Development Economist | I champion for Africa Agenda 2063 & SDGs 4,8 &13
How many of us are familiar with the African dream? #agenda2063 has set out aspirations for a better and more prosperous continent. Unfortunately, we- the young people, who should be driving the agenda and ultimately benefit from it, don't know about it. To be honest, how many of us know about #agenda2063 ?Are we mapping our development priorities to it? A lot more needs to be done to raise awareness among our young people. One way to do it is to support and engage youth- led organizations in articulating the dream to its main beneficiaries- the African youth. We cannot build #theafricawewant without the main proponents of growth and development in Africa. Bring the #africanyouth on board. It is our dream, isn't it? Niutele for Africa Youth Program #africanunion #youthempowerment
Have you heard about #BeTheFutureToday? It's a transformative initiative for Africa’s Youth designed by the African Union to inspire and #educate #youth about the African Youth Charter and #Agenda2063, our roadmap to #TheAfricaWeWant. The African Youth Charter ↘️https://lnkd.in/e8kjhWU6
