Last summer, JLR launched the Clean Clothes Campaign to relieve the burden of washing clothes – a task mainly borne by women and girls in socially deprived communities. We are proud to share that the campaign has delivered ten community solution washing machines in Diepsloot, Johannesburg.    Led by our Race Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage (REACH) Network, we collaborated with The Washing Machine Project on this yearlong initiative which will impact over 1,000 lives. The Divya washing machines, engineered by The Washing Machine Project and built by JLR's engineers, reduce detergent use, save 50% water, and operate without electricity, providing an economical solution in a community often facing these challenges.    This will also empower women and girls to fully enjoy their rights to education, work, and leisure, and protect them from physical and psychological impacts of hand-washing clothes.    It is incredible to see all colleagues come together in unison to work towards this common interest. Nomaswazi Nkosi, PR Specialist, JLR South Africa and Sub Sahara Africa shares, “The JLR South Africa team was proud to have been part of the project and deeply moved by how one person’s idea to develop manual washing machines in India, has had such an impact in an often forgotten community in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our hope is that these washing machines can help improve socioeconomic conditions in Diepsloot, and at the very least help make their lives that much easier.”     As part of the clean clothes campaign, JLR colleagues within the REACH network led other charitable initiatives such as delivering 100 food parcels to families in Diepsloot.    We have made incredible strides but there’s still more to do. Through our Engage for Good programme, we hope to build more long-term partnerships and foster employee volunteering to make a lasting positive impact in the communities we serve.   #Thewashingmachineproject #Cleanclothescampaign

It's a nice idea ..a manual motor I have a F Space. After 60 000 km, I had to change the gear box. 2 years after, the chain which synchronise all the cylinders. And soon, i will change the motor. Next time, I will buy a manual driven car from Jaguar. No gear box, no chain, no motor !!! NMJ life : No More Jaguar in my life.
