We talked about SUSHI! I just interviewed a vibrant graduate who mentioned that they weren't sure whether to bring up their sushi making experience in a supermarket. I said ABSOLUTELY! We talked about things I had never even considered: - The complex process of making Sushi - The rice preparation process and time management - The various ingredients and memorising the process of each combination - The power of presenting Sushi and the challenges of mastering it - Speed, accuracy, quality checking and providing excellent customer service - Adhering to standards and safety procedures - Working under pressure and ensuring consistency Do not forget... when looking for a new role, it is all about YOUR story and how you present it in a relevant way. Here is a golden rule when deciding what to share: If you knew it well, loved it or were amazing at it, you should absolutely share it and make it relevant to the role you are applying to. In a world where it is hard to set yourself apart and be noticed, the best advice I can give you is to be YOU and lead with it. And to those running a recruitment process, the BEST thing you can do is help candidates extract what they are proud of in their experience and bring that experience to life in the process...
