I recently read Jesse Cole's fantastic marketing book, Find Your Yellow Tux. (If you've read Blue Ocean Strategy and thought it felt like a textbook, grab a copy of Yellow Tux, it's much more conversational, relatable, and powerful.) "What business are you really in?" That one hit hard. As you can see in this video, Jesse and the Savannah Bananas are in the business of providing (and having) fun. There's a reason his company is called "Fans First Entertainment." What business am I in? Coaching & Personal Transformation...but reading Jesse's book, I came to realize I was talking about this work in a serious, heavy way. Ugh - I cringe even reading that and taking responsibility for it. What business am I REALLY in? Happiness, Joy, and Fulfillment. Why do we choose to take action to change our lives? Because on some level, we're not happy with the way things are. It's such an "oh, duh" moment - so easy to see that it's easy to miss in its simplicity. Be on the lookout for more high-energy, happy, joyful stuff coming from me. We started the season off 0-4. We need to adjust to each other and gain a better understanding of teamwork. From a coaching perspective, it was tough, but you can't quit. You have to keep finding new ways to improve. We focused on running, getting back to the basics, and understanding our team goals. Today, we went 2-0 and did it together. That's all you can ask for. "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success."

Make your team feel great not by talking about how awesome you are, But by making each person on the team see how awesome they are. Who you are - what you stand for - and what you believe in . . . Three simple keys to unlock countless doors . . . WHEN you know who you are and what you stand for and what you believe in so strongly and so firmly that nothing can knock you loose from that truth. It was two years ago that I discovered Fans First by Jesse Cole. From the first word to the last, I was hooked. The commitment to put Fans First - or in my case, OTHERS before self - is a game changer. It changes your choices. It changes your focus. It changes your investments - of time, money, and energy. But this morning, @yellowtuxJesse reminded me of the importance of knowing you so you are positioned to serve others. Last several years have challenged me to look beyond what others promise. I've still gotten caught off guard a time or two (including being left with a hacked checking account once and an unpaid invoice for $20,000 once), but that's when I was chasing the dollar signs and not the purpose focus. I learned. I grew. I leaned more into my YOUniqueness. Who am I? I AM a wordsmith that wields words to encourage hearts. What do I stand for? I stand for the fundamental power that comes with embracing uniqueness. NOBODY on this earth can do it the way you can do it. Know you. Lean all into your design. Change the world. What do I believe? I believe in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as the foundation for all that I do. Through that Love, I love others. Everything else falls in line with those two points. Simple.
