Webinar | Sexual and reproductive health and rights in L&MICs- an Evidence Gap Map The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) developed an evidence gap map commissioned by the DEval - German Institute for Development Evaluation with support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Co-Impact, to understand the extent of the #evidence on sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as to inform decision-making. To understand the extent of the evidence on #Sexual and #reproductive #health and #rights in L&MICs and inform decision-making, we developed an #evidencegapmap (EGM) commissioned by the DEval - German Institute for Development Evaluation with support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Co-Impact, to explore the state of the evidence base on SRHR and to inform upcoming impact evaluations. This #webinar (https://lnkd.in/g9ZUYrUi ) will present the existing and non-existing evidence for persons in L&MICs to decide whether and when to have children, experience safe pregnancy and delivery, have healthy newborns, and have a safe and satisfying sexual life. As we continue to demand gender equity and justice in our everyday lives, it is important to recognise that healthcare is far from equal for all. Women as well as non-binary, intersex and other queer individuals often have their symptoms dismissed by healthcare professionals, receive less accurate diagnoses, face longer wait times, and are vastly underrepresented in all aspects of medical research. This is in addition to the greater financial burden that we face in accessing health services and health products like sanitary pads, i.e. the pink tax. There are inequities that are also built into the system such as lack of sexual and reproductive health knowledge, disparities in food intake, lack of autonomy in household decision-making and financial exclusion, all of which translate into poorer health outcomes, especially for women. Menstrual health transcends beyond a mere health concern; it is a human rights issue. The ability to manage menstruation with dignity is a crucial aspect of bodily autonomy, yet millions globally lack access to essential menstrual products and adequate facilities. This year’s Menstrual Hygiene Day theme, “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld,” underscores the urgency of addressing this widespread challenge. Women and girls with disabilities face compounded barriers when it comes to menstrual health. They are often marginalized in discussions on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), face societal exclusion, and lack adequate resources and support. These challenges are magnified by gender inequality, poverty, and cultural stigmas, which can severely impact their social and economic participation.
