In a joint study with U.S. Department of Agriculture and National Association of Conservation Districts, the Soil Health Institute interviewed 30 farmers in 20 states who have implemented a soil health management system (SHMS) to examine the economic and on-farm benefits they experienced. The Kenneth McAlister farm in the China Creek-Red River Watershed of Texas increased profitability for a crop rotation of cotton and winter wheat by decreasing production costs and increasing cotton yield with a SHMS of no-till production and cover crops.
