The missing intelligence layer for the sustainable fuel market
Today we’re coming out of stealth-mode and unveiling our flagship product, the Refuel Intelligence™ platform. A breakthrough tool for stakeholders involved in the sustainable fuel market. We bring low-cost, standardized and transparent intelligence designed for decision-making to accelerate the transition to Net Zero in hard to abate sectors.
We’re so grateful to have been working for the past year with some of the world’s leading airlines and logistics companies to shape our product, as well as veterans and superstars of the sustainability and biofuel industry.
They have helped us develop not only the platform but the intelligence products within it, including our Refuel Rating™ system — the first rating system for the sustainable fuel industry — that provides mission-critical capabilities to key decision-makers operating today.

“Should we accept household waste is mixed up and not consistent.”
CIWM’s Lee Marshall recently explained about how embracing the inconsistency of household waste could help create more appropriate solutions.
Lee was speaking during the upcoming Beyond Waste Podcast where Dr Stephen Wise explored Advetec Group's “Bending the Line: Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and the Path to a Circular Economy” report.
Do you think industry should embrace inconsistency and focus on finding solutions?

"Sugarcane's potential extends far beyond the table. It's a strategic game-changer for sustainable industry. Every part of the sugarcane plant, from raw stalk to refined product, finds its use. Biogas derived from sugarcane waste fuels our farm tractors, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This translates to cleaner air and a healthier environment. But the innovation doesn't stop there. Imagine a future where airplanes take flight powered by sugarcane-derived biofuels. This isn't a pipe dream; it's a tangible possibility with the potential to revolutionize air travel and minimize our environmental footprint. By harnessing the power of sugarcane, we can achieve remarkable progress towards a sustainable future, all while maintaining profitability. It's a win-win for industry, the environment, and future generations." - Vijay Nirani, Founder and Managing Director, TruAlt Bioenergy at TruAlt Bioenergy presents the 3rd edition of Times Now Global Sustainability Alliance – Sustainable Organisations 2024.

Today we're launching a world-first in carbon removal: a multi-pathway marketplace with live pricing and availability data for 80% of the biochar market.
In the Supply team we've been working hard to onboard a handful of the highest quality biochar projects currently on the market to be listed for this launch. Huge shoutout to the teams at Exomad Green, Biocare, Planboo, Bio-Logical and MASH Makes for all of your hard work and continued collaboration with us at Supercritical 🤝
We're also really proud to be partnered with a number of other exciting and innovative CDR projects including UNDO, Equatic.tech, Charm Industrial, 1PointFive, Rewind, and more 🌎
Carbon removal is crucial for our planet's future, but even proactive companies that have committed to this technology face significant hurdles.
The market is opaque and it's nearly impossible to answer basic questions such as:
- Can I secure 10,000 tonnes for my 2024 emissions?
- What is the price per tonne?
- How can I distinguish high-quality credits from subpar ones?
If buyers cannot purchase effectively, we simply don't stand a chance in scaling this critically important market.
That's why we've built a single platform where buyers can:
- Navigate the CDR market with ease
- Access live data to make informed decisions
- Purchase high-quality credits that will have real climate impact
Michelle You, our CEO, puts it plainly: "Transparency is key to advancing the industry and ensuring companies aren't waiting on the sidelines for 20 years, while the world continues to suffer from the devastating impact of rising temperatures."

The transport industry is facing a crucial challenge: reducing carbon emissions. But there's a game-changer on the horizon – Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
HVO offers a compelling alternative to traditional diesel, boasting significant environmental and operational benefits:
𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀: Drastically Reduced Emissions: Up to 90% less greenhouse gas compared to diesel!
Renewable & Sustainable: Made from 100% renewable waste – a win for the circular economy. ♻️
Cleaner Air: Lower nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter for improved air quality.
𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗸𝘀: Enhanced Engine Performance: High cetane number leads to smoother operation and potentially lower maintenance costs. ⚙️
Drop-In Compatibility: Works seamlessly in existing diesel engines – no need for expensive upgrades.
Cold Weather Champion: Excellent low-temperature performance (cloud point below -40°C) for worry-free operation. ❄️
Operational Advantages:
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Superior oxidation stability compared to biodiesel, minimizing degradation and bacterial growth. ️
Reduced Engine Wear: Free of sulfur and aromatics, potentially leading to less wear and longer oil change intervals.
Challenges & Solutions:
While HVO presents a bright future, there are a few hurdles to address:
𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁: Currently pricier than traditional diesel. However, the gap is expected to shrink with increased production and demand. Look for government incentives to ease the transition!
Supply Chain Constraints: Availability might be limited compared to traditional fuels. Long-term contracts with suppliers and strategic infrastructure investments can bridge this gap.
Sustainability Concerns: Sourcing feedstocks (used cooking oil, animal fats) is finite. Prioritize waste-derived HVO and support sustainable sourcing practices.
The Road to Sustainability Starts Now!
By embracing HVO and tackling these challenges, transport companies can significantly reduce their carbon footprint and pave the way for a greener future.

Really excited about this one as LanzaTech has been one of my favorite CO2 utilization technologies and companies that I've come across. Tom Dower joins us to discuss LanzaTech biological technology geared at capturing CO2 off of a multitude of industrial and waste streams, ultimately transitioning that captured CO2 into ethanol and other biproducts that have a functional use in society. From fuel sources to consumer products, they transform the negative (atmospheric CO2) into sustainable solutions for the long term. But what I like most about them is they are actually DOING this at industrial scale, this isn't just a really interesting technology without proven marketability and scalability.
During our discussion we cover the technology, the market applications, the need to - and now one of the solutions to - focus on hard to abate industries like steel mills, industrial exhaust, building exhaust, or other. But the most fascinating is what they are doing with the byproducts, all the way down to the protein based waste from the bacteria used in the process. We also quickly touch on LanzaJet, a sustainable aviation fuel company using some of the same supporting technology and the resulting products from the biologic process.
I will always support utilization over sequestration. Capturing CO2 is critical, but finding uses for that CO2 and ultimately limiting our reliance on fossil based carbon products and replacing them with captured CO2 based carbon products is the future. LanzaTech is not only cutting edge technology (although the biologic process is as old as time), but they are industrial scale, cost effective, solution for carbon utilization. "My journey in waste management began at 11, inspired by a polluted beach experience with my father. This led me to realize the importance of personal responsibility in waste generation. In 2015, I launched my initiative, emphasizing that transformative education starts from within. We must change our behavior, address engagement barriers, understand the importance of our actions, and continuously educate. Waste management is everyone's responsibility, not just the government's. Let's be the change for a sustainable future"
