Turn your classroom upside down and find more time for teaching. In this course, educator Aaron Quigley demonstrates how to "flip" your K–12 or college classroom by initiating learning online before class begins. This new approach allows teachers to reinforce and delve more deeply into content in person, while sending students home with new material. In this presentation, Aaron shows how and why flipped classrooms work, addresses the possible drawbacks (like what to do when students don't have technology at home), and provides tips for implementing a flipped classroom at your school. Just finished the course “Flipping the Classroom” by Aaron Quigley! Check it out: https://lnkd.in/g7nbeQKP #classroommanagement.

STEM Lead Instructor, "Coffeechug," dedicated to infusing wonder and play in education. With over 20 years in education, I'm passionate about teaching and learning, STEM, CS, PBL, and a fervent coffee aficionado.
Building out a professional development for schools I support and of course anyone can use to help create scaffolded learning for staff. We all know PD cannot be a one shoe size fits all. So, I am using the Project Based Teaching Rubric as a launch for educators to identify a focus area in their practice and then trying to create a structured learning where they can then go and learn, apply, and develop their practices and plans in the PD. What resources, structures, protocols, etc. do you use in these areas that would be worthy to add? This is very very beta so lots to still be done, but has enough to see the vision(I hope) https://lnkd.in/gMJ7v8-D

Teachers can use various teaching techniques to enhance children's learning and development. Teachers can use acknowledgment, encouragement, feedback, modeling, and demonstration to stimulate children's thinking. To meet the needs of all children, teachers should add challenge, give cues, provide directions, and scaffold learning. Using this variety of instructional techniques leads to meaningful learning that is relevant to all curriculums.

How do we make sure Teachers engage in productive struggle, just like Students do? How do we help Teachers think about their own learning needs? San Bernardino City Unified School District Program Specialists are using research on learning to design these conditions. This team is building a foundational, consistent theory of learning across them and then using an inquiry cycle as the basis for their coaching of teachers AND all of the professional learning they design for adult learners. Wow! This. Is. Game changing! Our National Center on Education and the Economy teaching experience is the starting point. Want learning to be student centered?
