We are excited to be attending the California Charter Schools Association Conference in Long Beach! In true Magnolia fashion, we have a full team from home office to school sites and board members in attendance (not all pictured) 🤩 Our favorite part of the #CCSAConference2024 is learning from fellow educators, leaders, and advocates from across the state to share best practices, collaborate on new ideas, and deepen our understanding of charter school education. We are committed to providing our students with the best possible education, and attending conferences like this one is just one way we work towards that goal. #CCSAConference #Collaboration #MagnoliaWay

InnovateED partners with school districts to create coherent systems of continuous improvement | Chief Impact Officer | Global Education Influencer | Keynote | Mentor 1 Million Teachers | AI Innovator | Mathematician
📘 Post Inspired by "What Makes a Great Principal?" by Allyson Apsey and George Couros. Travel means time for reading! As I delve into this enlightening read, I’m struck by the nuanced discussion of building capacity versus accessing capacity in education. The insights from Allyson and has me rethinking how we empower our educators and utilize resources. 🛠 **Building Capacity** involves investing in our educational system’s long-term capabilities. This means training educators, enhancing processes, and bolstering infrastructure to support continuous improvement and innovation. 🔑 **Accessing Capacity** is about effectively using existing resources. It emphasizes leveraging what we already have—like community partnerships and external expertise—to enrich our educational practices right now. The combination of these two approaches is powerful. Building capacity sets the stage for future success, while accessing capacity helps us make immediate, impactful decisions. This balanced strategy is essential for driving sustainable educational excellence. 🌟 Let’s discuss how we can implement these ideas in our schools and districts. How do you see building and accessing capacity playing out in your educational environment? Share your thoughts and experiences! ”Community” is one of those words that is thrown around in so many ways in so many contexts, that it has all but lost meaning. If we were to consider the question, what qualities of community characterizes the roundtable or, more provocatively, “Towards what qualities of community ought roundtables such as this aspire and for what purposes?“, we might all have slightly different answers. This reflects similar concerns for the classroom or learning environments with which we all associate, particularly when considering how to teach beyond the teaching moment towards more prolonged movement. Join us at our next gathering, where we will ask participants to consider one related question that they have been sitting with. Participants will be free to participate as much or a little as they feel comfortable, but our hope is that we might come closer as a community. As much through our differences as our similarities, we think communities are made or broken in the richness of dialogue. Register for the roundtable at https://buff.ly/3uTtiby

Community Builder. Regional Director (West) at NCEE. We partner with education systems at all levels to design systems that leverage the NOW to prepare ALL learners for the future. Let's collaborate!
In this week's edition of "But what does the National Center on Education and the Economy do?" I bring you our partners in Colton Joint Unified School District. First, before you read any further, take a look at the video and share below who (aka the roles) you think are represented in the learning group? No cheating. STOP reading here. 🛑 OK, what did you guess?? 🤔 Did you guess #teachers? You would be correct! 🤔 Did you guess #schoolleaders? You would be correct! 🤔 But did you also guess #tosas (aka instructional/academic coaches, program specialists, etc)? If so, you would be correct! And finally....drum roll.....did you guess the #superintendent and his #cabinet along with other district directors??? If so, you nailed it. If not...don't be disheartened. Truth is, in last week's inquiry sharing, you couldn't have picked these different roles out of the crowd - every single person in the room was there to do one thing - share their most recent practitioner inquiry/action research findings with colleagues across the district. This culmination of a full year's work was truly inspiring! CJUSD is embracing the role that reflective, inquiry-based practices can/should/must play in their effort to bring #alignment and #coherence across the district (all of this is a part of a bigger body of work involving the development and implementation of a district-wide #professionallearning framework. Imagine the #impact when leaders at all levels tackle their problems of practice side-by-side with a similar process. Imagine the #impact when the #executivecabinet turns to teachers and staff for ideas and #help with their thinking. Co-designing the conditions for this....yeah, we do that. Want to know more? Reach out to superintendent Frank Miranda, Ed.D., assistant superintendent Tina Petersen, Ed.D and their team - they'll be happy to share.
