23 years ago today, the world changed forever. The New York City Fire Department faced the largest rescue operation in history, and in just 2 hours, they managed to save 20,000 lives. They rushed toward danger, putting the lives of strangers above their own. Wish kid Jake was inspired by their resilience. While in the hospital with leukemia, Jake watched a 9/11 documentary and was moved by the strength of the first responders. "When I watched that, it gave me the strength to keep going and stay positive during my treatment." – Jake. 12 years ago, his wish to meet the FDNY Chief was granted, sparking his interest in becoming a firefighter himself. Today, we honor the memory of those we lost, recognize the courage of survivors, and extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders whose bravery still inspires us and our wish kids. 💙 #NeverForget

Support Our Veterans, Safeguard Our Schools In a world where the safety of our children is paramount, there is a unique way you can make a difference. By donating to our initiative, you not only provide a crucial layer of security to our schools but also offer a meaningful opportunity to our military veterans. These brave men and women, who have already given so much to protect our country, are ready to serve again—this time, closer to home. Why Veterans? Our veterans possess unparalleled skills and a profound sense of duty. Their training and experience in high-pressure situations make them ideally suited to safeguard our schools. By positioning veterans as school guards, we ensure a secure environment for our children and empower these heroes with a purpose-driven role in our communities. The Impact of Your Donation Every contribution you make goes directly towards employing veterans as school guards. Your donation helps cover salaries, training, and equipment necessary for them to protect our schools effectively. More importantly, it supports veterans in finding stable, respected employment as they transition back into civilian life. A Dual Benefit This initiative is more than just enhancing school safety; it's about community building. Veterans bring with them a wealth of experience and a strong moral compass. Their presence in schools can inspire students, foster a sense of respect and discipline, and create a nurturing environment. By donating, you are investing in both the safety and the moral fabric of our future generations. How You Can Help - Donate Today: Every dollar counts. Your generosity can help provide employment for veterans and ensure our schools remain safe havens for learning. - Spread the Word: Share our mission with friends, family, and colleagues. The more people know about our cause, the greater impact we can make together. - Get Involved: If you're passionate about this cause, consider volunteering or organizing fundraising events. Your involvement can amplify our reach and effectiveness. Our veterans have always stood ready to protect us. Now, we have the chance to stand by them while ensuring the safety of our schools. Join us in this noble cause. Your support can make all the difference. Donate Now and Be a Part of This Life-Changing Mission! For every child’s safety and every veteran’s honor, thank you. --- Together, we can build a safer, stronger community. https://lnkd.in/eD4t558F

"In the year ending March 2023, there were 50,500 offences involving a sharp instrument, up by 73 per cent since 2015...Government initiatives such as banning zombie knives are welcome, but don’t tackle the fear that drives young people to pick up a knife as they leave the house because they feel they need protection." What a great week. Our friends from Kodiak Island Borough,Cordova, Valdez, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Municipality of Anchorage, and the Private Sector were together to help all of us at the state and federal level understand how we can support them during the next catastrophic earthquake. #ReadyAlaska #Alaska #Earthquake #EmegencyManagement.
FEMA Region 10 Administrator Willie Nunn and Alaska Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management Director Bryan Fisher share their thoughts about this week’s Alaska Rehearsal of Concept. State and federal agencies, non-profits, and the private sector took part in the three-day exercise held at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage. With a focus on the last tactical mile in the aftermath of an earthquake, conversations revolved on how to move critical life saving resources to specific locations in communities for survivors to access.

Happy #SocialSaturday..... Today, let's remember those who have bravely served us - our military and veteran communities. We invite you to support the Missouri Warrior to Wellness Program, an initiative that is more than just a cause. It's a movement towards saving lives and promoting mental health. Your generous donations to Help Our Heroes, a certified 501c3 organization, are not only tax deductible, but they also serve as a pillar for this trailblazing mental health program. Our mission is to provide continuous mental health care, advocacy, and outreach to our heroes. In collaboration with entities like the Department of Veteran Affairs, Missouri's Governor's Challenge, Missouri Health and Human Services, various mental health organizations, and philanthropic bodies, we believe we can drive change. But to achieve this, we need your help. Here's how you can make a difference: 1. Support the startup phase through donations and assist in securing corporate sponsorships. 2. Join forces with your local veteran-focused nonprofit. 3. Share this message far and wide. 4. Advocate for our cause by writing to your local Senators and Representatives from Missouri and Kansas to pass supportive legislation. ***To mental health professionals willing to lend their expertise, we welcome you to join us. Please reach out to Trisha Houghton and Marcus Pierre. ***For organizations offering essential support services to Veterans and military communities in Kansas and Missouri, we encourage you to connect with John C King and myself. Let's remember, our collective effort can significantly impact our Veterans and military communities' lives. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/geXaCmvx Together, we can #SupportVeterans and elevate #MentalHealthAwareness. Now is the time to #GiveBack.
