CEO @ Eurasian Advanced Work Packaging Community of Practice | Accredited AWP Consultant | Speaker & Author
As you can imagine - during my 32-year long career in engineering I’ve been asked lots of weird and wonderful questions 🤓 but in the past 5 years it’s been all around AWP (which definitely is a GREAT shift). So, for those venturing into AWP for the first time, I’ve compiled a short list of key takeaways: 1️⃣ Begin with the end in mind: Keep sight of the real outcomes in the field during the AWP adoption process. 2️⃣ Embrace construction-driven engineering: Align engineering and construction sequences to reduce field rework. 3️⃣ Align procurement with the Path of Construction (PoC): Ensure smooth progress by getting tools and materials to the field on time. 4️⃣ Adopt a construction-driven Work Breakdown Structure (WBS): Ensure consistency and alignment with the PoC. 5️⃣ Engage construction leaders early on: Involve construction leaders from the outset to ensure AWP success. 6️⃣ Manage constraints: Establish a formal process and dedicated team for identifying and managing constraints. 7️⃣ Create an accountability-driven culture: Foster disciplined collaboration and stable accountability structures. #awp #leanconstruction #workfaceplanning #advancedworkpackaging #constructionmanagement

Gabriel Campbell MEng (Hons) BSc (Hons) IEng MIFireE FRACS What contributed to your decision to become professionally registered? "From early on in my studies at University of Central Lancashire I have had the goal of becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). This contributed to the decision to transfer from the BEng course to the integrated MEng, which is accredited by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and Engineering Council towards CEng professional registration. I also knew from my time in the fire service that it is difficult for clients to decipher who has the necessary competence to complete their requirements. The obvious way to demonstrate your competence is to put yourself through an external assessment process to achieve registration. I applied for Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration as soon as I left the fire service and then Incorporated Engineer (IEng) once I received my degree certificate. In addition to professional competency, I also recognise the importance of being professionally registered for the code of conduct and standards of those operating in the industry. I am proud to work for a company that places such emphasis on these values." In what ways has registration benefitted your career? "The obvious benefit is that my clients and peers can demonstrably see that I have been assessed by industry professionals and that I have demonstrated suitable competence to be registered as IEng. This gives me more confidence, especially when meeting industry professionals for the first time." #IEng #IncorporatedEngineer https://buff.ly/3m2HR8Q

I provide online pre recorded trainings for mechanical designers who want to improve themselves, preparing to take PAE or PCE exams.
#PAE exam can be taken by anyone registered with BEM as graduate for 3 years and had undergone at least one year of training with professional engineer, ie PE or PEPC in their company. Those who do not have mentor in their company would have to go through the ECD program via route C in IEM. This means both mentee and mentor have to be registered with IEM, meet regularly and prepare a log book record for the tenure of the mentorship which is normally 3 years. Check IEM website. I attach here a sample report for PAE training and experience to show how the contents should address the question (This is just a sample. The actual length of your report may be longer). These reports should act as guidance and not be copied out rightly. The most important, apart from being relevant in the training report is honesty. You should own what you write. So do not brag about something or a concept that you do not know about. You need to own the concepts, designs, experiences in order to respond positively when queried during interview. The role of the interviewer is to access that the applicant owns what he or she writes and they are not fabricated or copied without owning the concepts. For those who want to learn more in engineering, so that they can apply what they learn, start from the foundation and concepts and build up on those. Make sure that the concepts learnt are correct as there are a lot of materials source in the internet. Reliable sources are like TRANE, titus, price industries, uptime but sometimes, they require some basic knowledge to understand them. My portfolio features some links to basic and advanced engineering concepts. hvac https://lnkd.in/gTUJ_DYj fire https://lnkd.in/gBMy2SUU plumbing https://lnkd.in/gyqGBuEC

Industrial Training at JKR Kuala Muda. I am involved in Bengkel Penyediaan Preliminary Detailed Abstract (PDA) at IPGKSAH. From the meeting, I had learned how cost estimation began and cost estimation aims to develop an accurate and detailed estimate of the project's overall cost. The cost breakdown into specific components such as labor, type of material, and equipment for better control and management. Other than that, from the PDA, tendering and procurement aim to provide a basis for preparing tender documents and inviting bids from the contractors.
