Well done to our McCANN Poland and McCann London teams for their Grand Prix wins at last night's Cannes Lions award show. McCann Poland and Mastercard won the Grand Prix for 'Creative Data' for their “Room for Everyone” campaign. Building on last year's Grand-Prix winning “Where to Settle” campaign, "Room for Everyone" uses the power of data to support entrepreneurship for Ukrainian immigrants in Poland as well as local Polish businesses, allowing them to help each other thrive. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eFNveQuH And it was also another big night for McCann London and XBOX who won their second Grand Prix of the week in the 'Direct' category for “The Everyday Tactician.” #McCannWorldgroup #CannesLions2024 #TruthWellTold

Delighted to share the exciting news about the launch of Ireland's Digital Creative Industries Roadmap today by Ministers Catherine Martin, Simon Coveney, and Dara Calleary. This strategic plan sets the course for the future of Ireland's digital creative landscape, with a special focus on: 🖼️ Commercial design sectors 🎮 Digital Games 📱 Digital content creation As a Creative Industries Senior Market Advisor with Enterprise Ireland in the UK, I contribute to the implementation of the roadmap. Specifically focusing on growing Ireland’s creative trade and strengthening our international profile. The roadmap emphasises the importance of a strategic approach to target export markets, helping creative companies overcome barriers to exporting. It highlights the importance of market intelligence, developing sector-specific networks, dedicated investment, and tailored support for digital exports. Aligned with Ireland's Diaspora Strategy, the roadmap values strengthening linkages with Ireland’s diaspora for business development, mentoring, and innovation. Growing Ireland’s digital creative industries will create trade opportunities, support inward investment, and attract talent back home. Excited to work together with my colleagues Brian O'Malley, Conor Stewart, Eileen Bell, Alanna Clarke, Fernanda Silva, Meetali Kashyap Jaidev, Sean McNally and others to realise the growth potential of this incredible sector and position our Creative Companies as leaders globally. Back in March our partner Tytus Cytowski was interviewed by CEE Legal Matters on his outlook on the CEE market as a U.S. lawyer working with CEE clients. A few takeaways about the entrepreneur and legal landscape: 👉 We are currently witnessing the golden years of the CEE region, particularly in the tech sector. 👉 We’re likely to see a surge in product-based companies as opposed to solely software-based ones. 👉 CEE extends to the diaspora of founders, entrepenuers with CEE roots in Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv and London. 👉 Entrepenuership has become a career path for people in CEE. 👉 CEE is no longer considered exotic; it has proven itself as a center for advanced technology, with people in Silicon Valley recognizing it as a rising star. 👉 CEE entrepreneurs discovered they could build US-style companies without being physically located in the US. 👉 US law is another product like Hollywood, Starbucks, Disney, and McDonalds that attracts global customers (users). 👉 CEE cannot rely on the US to protect it. The region has to do a better job of building prosperous and vibrant societies based on the rule of law (not the rule of man). CARNIVAL OF CONNECTIVITY To help our firms across the world connect even more, find opportunities, support one another and do better business, Mackrell International puts emphasis on Next Generation lawyers. Next Gen groups are well established in EMEA and North America and already sharing insight and developing new business streams – and we are building these networks now in APAC and LatAm too. In fact, the LatAm cohort came together recently in a carnival of connectivity – even on Zoom! Lawyers from across the continent joined us, with representatives from almost all MI firms in the region and the little yellow boxes positively lit up… As well as beginning to appreciate the strength and breadth of the LatAm legal ecosystem, we found so much in common (including, but not limited to!) a shared passion for dancing, karaoke (?), family and football (soccer) and a desire to progress and grow both personally and professionally. We also found a couple of happy tax lawyers (!), a UN representative and cross-border connections including with China. As connections and understandings grow, this is certainly going to be a vibrant group. This week, I had the pleasure of delivering the closing address at the event on "La economía intangible en Europa" - Europe’s intangible economy - hosted by The Leading Brands of Spain Forum. Estimates suggest that the global value of intangibles has increased tenfold over the last 25 years, and intellectual property rights play a crucial role in boosting business competitivity in the intangible economy. They encourage businesses to invest in research and development, foster innovation and create new products, processes and services. Nowadays, intangible assets represent the bulk of a company’s value. As I pointed out in my address, I believe that we - the EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office and IP offices in the EU - can make a significant contribution to businesses’ competitiveness by: 🖱️ Using new technologies to make the IP registration processes more efficient, reducing the effort needed to obtain IP rights and encouraging more businesses to protect their innovative ideas and brand assets, 🔒 Increasing investor confidence in IP assets as collateral by granting strong IP rights through thorough examinations, ⚖️ Advocating for the enforcement mechanisms and protection measures to ensure that IP infringements are dealt with more swiftly and effectively, thus safeguarding businesses’ competitiveness, ⌨️ Providing accessible, comprehensive and AI-powered databases with easily searchable and updated information on IP rights to facilitate the commercialisation of these rights and assist potential lenders and investors value IP assets, 📣 Promoting awareness and education to help SMEs, in particular, to realise the value and commercialisation potential of their IP rights, and 💶 Collaborating with financial organisations and institutions to establish procedures and standards to make it easier for businesses to obtain financing based on IP rights. A special thanks to the Foro de Marcas Ronombradas Españolas, OEPM ES, Aida Fernández González and EU2023ES for putting together this inspiring event and to all the panellists for their very interesting and inspiring presentations.
