This is a great example of inclusive organizational #leadership! While it’s not always possible to fly every FTE to every event, I applaud the 49ers for setting an example here — especially in the era of hyper-segmentation and favoritism amongst teams. Finding a way to acknowledge the contribution of all employees, whenever possible, goes a long way toward reducing silos, decreasing intra-office resentment, creating healthy workplace culture, and motivating folks to do their best work. #Superbowl #inclusion #culture #belonging

I'll be honest, I don't know if this is typical or not - my gut says no - but this is clearly a company that truly believes each of those people is part of the San Francisco 49ers team. They don't play on the field, but this shows these individuals that you believe their work helped the team accomplish its goals. And while I could be wrong, something tells me they do more things like this that we don't hear about. #teamwork #leadership #teamdevelopment #culture

Our interns had a chance to ask a group of CHS leaders some questions at our headquarters in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., in a recent panel event. Mary Kaul-Hottinger, Gary Halvorson, Rick Dusek, and Brandon Smith met with summer interns, both in-person and virtually. The discussion covered a variety of topics including: setting career goals, receiving feedback, culture and employee retention and more. "Always be willing to change. Look at the possibilities. Have agility and adaptability. That's the future; things change fast." - Kaul-Hottinger "At a company like ours, you can start in one place and follow a passion to other places that might feed a curiosity or help with your professional development... Challenge yourself and chase your passions. It's all fuel for a career." - Halvorson "Try different experiences to help you figure out what you like and if the company is where you'd want to grow your career. Always be learning and meeting people." - Dusek "There's always cycles in business, good and bad. Be known as a person that leans in, asking ‘How can I help?' People will remember those tough times and how you showed up as a leader to help." - Smith #CHSIncIntern

Today, I want to emphasize the invaluable role that college interns play in the success and growth of our employer partners. As business leaders, Ivy Tech faculty, and Career Link staff, we must recognize that Ivy Tech Community College interns are not just temporary assets; they are the lifeblood of innovation and potential. Their presence injects fresh perspectives, youthful energy, and untapped talent into our organizations. First and foremost, Ivy Tech interns bring a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and a hunger to learn by putting that knowledge into practice. The academic environment fosters creativity and encourages them to think outside the box. When they join professional world of work, they offer new insights and creative solutions to longstanding challenges. Their willingness to embrace unconventional ideas can help break through barriers and propel these organizations forward. Moreover, interns are eager to prove themselves in a professional setting. They arrive with a thirst for hands-on experience, ready to take on real responsibilities. Their enthusiasm is contagious, inspiring our teams to rekindle their own passion for the work we do. In return, long time career professionals have the opportunity to mentor and guide these future professionals, creating a lasting impact on their lives and careers, all helping the economy of the state of Indiana. Interns also play a crucial role in keeping companies up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies. As digital natives, they have grown up in a world immersed in technology, and their skills often surpass those of older generations (no offense intended). Embracing their tech-savviness can give you a competitive advantage and help organizations adapt to the rapidly evolving business landscape.

🔑 Gathering Key Players in Our Community 🔑 Recently, I had the privilege of bringing together influential family business owners from our community at the UCI ANTrepreneur Center. Our goal? To brainstorm how the ANTrepreneur Center and especially, UCI undergraduates, can better support and uplift local family-owned enterprises. Did you know? 📊 👉 Family businesses account for 64% of the U.S. gross domestic product. 👉 They generate 62% of the country's employment and account for 78% of all new job creation. (Source: Conway Center for Family Business) Many students may not have family businesses at the top of their radar. But with their immense impact on our economy, we're on a mission to bridge that gap. From our insightful session, we've derived actionable ideas: 1️⃣ Micro-internships for students to document the unique stories and legacies of our local family businesses through interviews, articles, and video. 2️⃣ Training sessions where family business owners can educate students on the crucial skills they desire in potential employees. ... and so much more! 🚀 A big shout-out to all participants - (Ed Hart Ed Lee Joberto Lee Kevin Tsao Julie Hudash Jaûne Odombrown EUGENE AND CAROL CHOI FAMILY FOUNDATION Jenny Dinnen Jennifer L. Smith - your insights and enthusiasm will drive this initiative forward. The horizon looks promising! 📢 Call to Action 📢 UCI students, seize this opportunity!
