What to do when tooling is no longer available? Our customer Trajectory EV reverse-engineered this handle latch rocker from a broken component, which was the only available source. It is a component that clips into the charging paddle handle in a series of vintage rare electric vehicles. Nikon SLM Solutions and Porsche AG have joined forces on a groundbreaking project - the 3D printing of a complete E-drive housing for the front axle of a sports car.   This innovative housing integrates a permanent magnet motor and a two-stage transmission, delivering 205 kW of power at 800 volts and up to 2,100 Nm of torque to the wheels.   Utilizing DfAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing) techniques, such as topology optimization with lattice structures, the integrated design achieves multiple benefits: - Decreased weight - Integrated functional cooling channels - Increased stiffness - Streamlined assembly through part integration   All of these factors contribute to enhanced part quality and performance.   Impressively, the E-drive unit, measuring 590 x 560 x 367 mm, was fabricated in just 21 hours using the NXG XII 600 printer.   This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the automotive and the additive manufacturing industries, showcasing the power of partnership and innovation.
