The International Energy Agency, an official forecaster, estimates that the global installed capacity of battery storage will need to rise from less than 200 gigawatts last year to more than a terawatt by the end of the decade, and nearly 5TW by 2050. Renewa is partnering with developers to get these critical projects moving forward. #Renewa #BatteryStorage #RenewableEnergy

Well … I reckon that this vox pop by Andrew Bills is a really good DNSP description of what the “Consumers’ Grid” could be … well what it is! … but SA Power Networks has signed on as a proponent with Intellihub Group and Alinta Energy for the Accelerating Smart Meter Rollout Rule Change Proposal (RCP) which is … bluntly … the antithesis of this vision of its CEO. Either Andrew has been misled, or SAPN’s Strategy & Reg Policy team have, or they missed the memo! The RPC seeks to disenfranchise consumers, there access to THEIR data, and destroy the nascent relationship between Consumers and DNSPs to deliver… network productivity, “Energy Cost Efficiency”, Community Batteries (ESaaS), network digital platforms to enable virtualisation of network services both behind and in front of the meter to deliver real consumer benefits. It’s quite possibly squandering the opportunity to address inequalities between consumers without RTS and those without. Fundamentally though SAPN is not looking after its customers! I’m looking forward to SAPN withdrawing its support for the abominable anti-consumer Rules proposed by Intellihub. There’s a huge swell of opposition to that RCP and I’d hate to see SA Power Networks on the wrong side of history!
