Tailored, motivational experiences and benefits that are optimized to address individual preferences and health needs will result in meaningful behavior change and stronger cultures. There is no business without its people, so it’s up to employers to look inward and enact a comprehensive, people-first wellbeing strategy. By supporting whole-person health employers can cultivate a stable, healthy, and loyal workforce.

Ecotherapist & Mental Resilience Trainer | Harvesting Human Natural Resources | Author of The Ripple Effect (Manuscripts 2025)
As more and more employers are recognizing the importance of mental health and wellness care in the workplace, I thought I would share some findings from a 2023 survey (conducted by Lyra Health) of 250 leaders in the employee benefits industry. One notable finding was that DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging) goals are on the rise, with 29% of benefits leaders ranking it among their top 3 benefits-challenges in 2024, versus only 21% in 2023. Now, while that number is still not nearly high enough, I was glad to see that the conversation (and research) around culturally responsive support for underrepresented employee groups is growing. And looking at the bottom line, fostering a work culture where mental health and wellness is prioritized is more important than ever. In 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that globally "an estimated 12 billion working day are lost every year to depression and anxiety at a cost of $1 trillion per year in lost productivity". I think Joe Grasso, Senior director of Lyra Health's Workforce Transformation team said it well in the company's 2024 trends report: "the employers that get it right are those that recognize that a workplace culture of well-being and a culture of high performance can, and should, go hand-in-hand. Especially in the long term, studies show that, when employers design work in ways that curb needless stressors, both individual well-being and business outcomes fare better." Let me know your thoughts and here's to a brighter 2024 for everyone! Photo by Christina @ wocintechchat.com on Unsplash #employeewellness #mentalhealthmatters #corporateculture #wellbeing #DEIB

🌟 Why Employee Financial Wellness Matters More Than Ever 🌟 When we talk about employee wellness, we often focus on physical, emotional, and social aspects. But what about financial wellness? 💡 Key Insights: • Financial stress is at an all-time high, with 57% of employees citing it as their top stressor. • Inflation, rising debt, and economic uncertainty are compounding this issue. • Financially stressed employees are less engaged, less productive, and more likely to leave. 🎯 Why Employers Should Care: Investing in your employees’ financial wellness isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a strategic business move. A financially stable workforce is more focused, motivated, and loyal. ✅ Actionable Steps for Employers: 1. Adopt a holistic wellness culture: Address all aspects of employee wellbeing, including financial health. 2. Offer comprehensive benefits: Go beyond the 401(k) with financial coaching, literacy programs, and support for life’s unexpected expenses. 3. Raise awareness: Ensure employees know and use the financial wellness resources available. 4. Reduce stigma: Promote a culture where seeking financial help is encouraged and normalized. Creating a supportive environment where financial wellness is prioritized can transform your workplace, leading to happier employees and a thriving business. #EmployeeWellness #FinancialHealth #HR #WorkplaceWellness #Leadership

None of these are surprising (#childcarecrisis), prioritizing #wellbeing through holistic programs will be the most impactful for companies in 2024. It can be a slippery slope to identify the best #employeeexperience programs to invest in, but despite best intentions, the average EAP only has a 3-4% utilization rate. The problem here is that a lot of companies try to apply solutions that cover ALL employees instead of diversifying into 1-2 separate programs that will have higher impact for a subset. For example, have you considered analyzing Parent Turnover? Here's another quick read: https://lnkd.in/gVriGYxA #workingparents #employeeturnover #mentalhealth

A collaborative approach to employee health and well-being - Our exploration of workplace wellness from insights shared by the McKinsey Health Institute (MHI) has highlighted employers' pivotal role in employee health. However, this journey doesn't end with employers alone. Employees, policymakers, and city governments also have crucial roles in shaping a healthier work environment. Employees can take initiative by utilizing available resources and advocating for healthy practices and benefits, such as paid parental leave and caregiving support. Policymakers can also contribute by setting regulations to protect employee health, such as providing access to mental health resources. They can also lead by example, promoting health in their organizations and through public health investments. City governments, where many large employers reside, have a unique opportunity to foster collaboration between companies and employees, setting broader health goals and implementing targeted interventions. In conclusion, enhancing employee health is a collective effort. By working together, we can create a supportive environment that leads to longer, higher-quality lives for employees and benefits society as a whole. #employeewellness #workplacehealth #publicpolicy #collaboration Source: https://lnkd.in/dZET739U

Today is International Mind-Body Wellness Day. "Less than two-thirds of workers say their physical and mental well-being are 'excellent' or 'good' (63% and 58%, respectively), and an even lower percentage rate their social (45%) and financial (35%) well-being positively." Sometimes it feels impossible to stay physically and mentally healthy while keeping your work and personal lives balanced. Check out this article to get some ideas on how to make that seemingly impossible task a little more manageable. #worklifebalance #mentalhealth #burnoutprevention #hr #employeesatisfaction #wednesdaywisdom #wednesday
