Masterplanned Community in #Markham Would Replace Big Box Centre Beaver Creek winds its way past the intersection of Highway 7 and Woodbine Avenue in #Markham, heading southeast to soon join the Rouge River as it heads toward the Rouge National Urban Park lands. Here though, while the watercourse is presently surrounded by #commercial and #industrial properties, a pair of proposals to the east of the creek would see a significant amount of #residential space added to the mix in they are approved. The larger of the abutting proposals actually surrounds the smaller one. Currently a large #commercial site with big box stores, restaurants, and parking lots, Woodside #Markham is proposed to gradually be reborn as a mixed-use, masterplanned community. First submitted to #Markham in 2021, the #redevelopment plan has recently been revised and resubmitted to the City. Uncommonly for the Greater #Toronto Area, the latest plans for the #Markham Woodside Redevelopment foresee something less dense than initially proposed. Designed by Urban Strategies Inc. for SmartCentres REIT and Choice Properties REIT, the revised plan outlines buildings ranging from 4 to 30 storeys, now to include an office building, along with parks and significant landscaping. Over 1,100 #rental homes in two towers up to 54 storeys proposed for the north end of Burrard Bridge in downtown #Vancouver Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and PWL Partnership Landscape Architects Inc., the proposal calls for two new high-rise towers — a 40-storey west tower (closest to the bridge) and a 54-storey east tower (next to the intersection of Howe and Pacific streets). The tallest tower would reach a height of 534 ft (163 metres). The proposal features 1,136 middle-income, secured purpose-built market #rental homes, aligning with the municipal government’s strategy to redevelop select under-utilized City-owned properties into market housing. This approach serves the dual purpose of addressing housing needs for working people, while generating additional revenue to help ease the reliance on property tax increases. About 11,400 sq ft of #commercial #retail/restaurant space would activate the edges of the complex fronting Pacific Street and the footings of the Burrard Street Bridge. Multi-Million Dollar Expansion Approved for Melbourne’s next Docklands Housing Project! Lendlease has received the green light for the final phase of Collins Wharf, bringing more than 900 new apartments to the area. Located at 915-1055 Collins Street, this major residential project will culminate in six high-rise towers, further adding to the housing supply in Docklands. The latest approvals feature three residential towers: a 28-storey building by Ewert Leaf and Kennon Architects with 349 apartments, and two additional towers by Architectus including a 28-storey tower with 375 apartments and a 16-storey tower with 191 apartments. Central to the project is a 1500 sq m public park designed by ASPECT Studios, promising green spaces, a terraced timber lounge, and native plantings to enhance community living. Collins Wharf’s first building, No.1 Collins Wharf, completed in 2019, set the stage for this expansive precinct. With Regatta expected in 2026 and Ancora in 2027, the precinct is on track to provide over 6500 homes at Docklands, solidifying Lendlease’s commitment to urban revitalisation in their local patch, Docklands. Beyond Collins Wharf, Lendlease’s Victorian portfolio continues to grow, including its bid for the Arden Central precinct and the multi-tower Gurrowa Place near the Queen Victoria Markets. #BuildingTalks #MelbourneDevelopment #MelbourneDocklands
