This year's Smart Freight Week in the Netherlands (hosted by Smart Freight Centre) offered an excellent overview of global ESG advancements in the logistics sector. My AIT Worldwide Logistics teammates and I were inspired to see how committed the industry is to sustainability initiatives. The push for "book and claim" – a method allowing more customers to participate in programs like SAF purchases – is at the top of everyone's list. The rapidly expanding adoption of electric vehicles for short haul ground transportation was also a popular topic along with discussions about how biofuels and e-fuels fit into the broader plan to establish a low-emission transportation sector. These strategies and more are informing our efforts as we continue to strive towards AIT’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions for scopes 1 and 2 by 2035. https://hubs.ly/Q02vStQK0 #SmartFreightWeek #Logistics #Sustainability #Innovation #SustainabilityInLogistics

Exciting discussions at the Journée de la Filière by SOLUTRANS | Transport routier et urbain held in Lyon last Thursday. The panel “Hydrogène, potentiel et défis d’une véritable révolution verte“ gathered important stakeholders including OEMs MAN Truck & Bus SE, Hyundai Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business, Renault Trucks, fuel cell manufacturer Symbio retailers TEAL Mobility, Groupe Qair and France Hydrogène. I will underline a few key messages 👇 I believe in a coordinated and pragmatic strategy for the successful deployment of H2 trucks in Europe. Together. Stronger. If we are serious, we should aim for 30,000 hydrogen-powered #trucks by 2030 in Europe. This will require roughly 0.5 MT of hydrogen per year. That's a lot, because it of course implies significant investment, but it's not so much when you compare with the installed H2 production base for the industry: actually less than 10%! So, in order to have sufficient capacities for those early truck deployments and to reach the H2 cost at the #nozzle required to convince fleet operators (reaching 8€/kg 🎯 will be a must!), we absolutely need to leverage the existing H2 production capacities in the coming years. Yes, this involves accepting some #upstream CO2 emissions at the very beginning, but it will be critical to develop the #midstream & #downstream #infrastructure (H2 station retail networks) and to deploy vehicles on the road (allowing OEM’s to initiate large-scale industrialization). Otherwise, we’ll never get there! And once the large low carbon and #renewable H2 plants will be online and #competitive, we will be able to channel this easily to H2 mobility applications. With this #mindset, Air Liquide is leveraging on its historical presence in key basins (Normandy, Benelux, Rhein & Ruhr) to support the development of H2 mobility markets, combining the use of existing capacities with new renewable and low carbon projects like our 200 MW #electrolyzer, Air Liquide Normand’Hy. These basins are, by the way, strategically connected to major transport corridors, and are thus ideal regions to launch large H2 truck #fleets. 🎬 I invite you to enjoy the full replay of the panel dedicated to hydrogen (in French): https://lnkd.in/eNcBZbQH Our debate on the H2 supply chain starts 46 minutes in. Nordic Electrofuel joins forces with Societe Generale for fundraising to build e-SAF facility in Norway! The aviation industry’s transition to sustainable fuels is gaining momentum, and one trailblazing project at the forefront is Nordic Electrofuel’s e-SAF plant in Norway. With commissioning scheduled for 2026, this pilot facility will produce synthetic sustainable aviation fuels (e-fuels) using power-to-liquid technology, significantly reducing aviation’s CO2 footprint. What makes this project unique is the collaborative equity financing behind it. Advised by Societe Generale, Nordic Electrofuel aims to raise capital not only from financial investors but also from aviation companies, including airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and airports. This collaborative approach is essential for scaling e-fuel technologies and moving from lab experiments to commercial production. With aviation responsible for a significant share of global CO2 emissions, such cooperative efforts are crucial in achieving net-zero air travel. The EU Innovation Fund has also granted 40 million euros to support this groundbreaking initiative. Additionally, Nordic Electrofuel has recently reached a milestone by signing a term sheet with P2X-Europe GmbH & Co. KG Europe, a joint venture of Mabanaft and H&R Group, formalizing their cooperation in the production and commercialization of synthetic fuels, with a focus on electricity-generated sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF). Special Thanks to Vincent Caufourier & team for enabling us to decarbonize aviation! Last Thursday, I was representing TEAL Mobility at the Rencontres de la Filière organized by SOLUTRANS | Transport routier et urbain! It was a great opportunity to connect with industry leaders and discuss the key challenges shaping hydrogen sector. One highlight was visiting Symbio’s facility, a subsidiary of Michelin, Faurecia and Stellantis. For me, it's a must-see, which makes one proud to be European and working in the H2 sector ! 💧 I also joined a a round-table discussion on “Hydrogen: Potential and Challenges of a True Green Revolution.” It was an honor to represent our industry’s voice on how hydrogen is rapidly becoming a crucial solution for reducing emissions, particularly for heavy-duty vehicles. While the potential is enormous, we still face challenges in building infrastructure, improving efficiency, availing hydrogen powered trucks and making hydrogen accessible to all. At TEAL Mobility, we are already contributing by developing a hydrogen station network across major European corridors and driving the shift toward greener transport. With the majority of our hydrogen supply already low-carbon, we have ambitious projects underway to reach over 100 stations. A special thanks to Patrick Cholton and Hervé Rébillon for the invitation and for organizing such a great event. Congratulations to Philippe Rosier for your well-deserved award "homme de la filière 2024"! 👉 Don’t miss the full replay of the hydrogen discussion starting at 46 minutes (in French): https://lnkd.in/ei-pb7SF #Hydrogen #SustainableMobility #GreenTransition #TEALMobility

Last week, Air Liquide had the pleasure of welcoming Maroš Šefčovič, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, and his team to our headquarters. We were excited to present the level of maturity that the H2 mobility ecosystem in Europe has now reached: >> Multiple automotive OEMs are deploying trucks and light commercial vehicles, like recently announced by Stellantis >> Significant H2 retail infrastructure development initiatives like TEAL Mobility (our joint company with TotalEnergies) and HYSETCO >> Large H2 supply chain investments like our Trailblazer 20 MW electrolyzer in Germany and the upcoming Normand'Hy 200 MW electrolyzer in France. Hydrogen is thus a critical solution to enable the #decarbonization of transport in Europe and beyond, as a complementary solution to batteries. The European Commission's continued support for hydrogen mobility will be decisive in the years ahead. It will be important to reach a critical market size, both in terms of the number of vehicles and hydrogen refueling stations deployed, and to put in place a #pragmatic #roadmap for the decarbonization of hydrogen used for mobility applications.
