In the final weeks of 2023, events, festivals and holiday activities were the main drivers of travel and hotel performance around the world, according to a new report from STR. The report found that while shifting Art Basel back a week had a negative impact on Miami’s RevPAR, down 50.6% from previous years, college football championship games provided a boost to hotels in urban markets across the U.S. like Indianapolis, which hosted the Big 10 Championship. The correlation between large events and increased RevPAR isn’t a new phenomenon, but tightening markets and an increased desire for experience-based travel is evident. Gencom’s portfolio is strategically positioned to capitalize on these shifting trends, from providing proximity to the action with The The St. Regis Chicago to offering options in other destinations like New Orleans and Nashville with select Provenance Hotels such as Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery and Hotel Preston. 🌟 Putting the Guest First: A Reminder of the Ritz-Carlton $2,000 Rule in the Entertainment Venue Industry! 🌟 This week, I was reminded of a customer service gem that can be a game-changer for any business in the entertainment venue industry. It's the "Ritz-Carlton $2,000 Rule," and it revolves around making our guests feel truly valued. In a nutshell, this rule empowers any Ritz-Carlton team member to spend up to $2,000 per guest to address a concern or create an unforgettable moment – no need for higher-ups' approval. It's a simple yet powerful way to demonstrate how much each guest means to their business. In the fast-paced world of entertainment venues, creating exceptional experiences is key. Just like the Ritz-Carlton, our aim is to provide a memorable and magical time for our guests. Whether you run a theme park, theater, concert hall, bar or nightlife location, the $2,000 Rule holds valuable lessons for us. By encouraging our team members to go the extra mile, we can leave a lasting impact on our guests. Whether it's resolving an issue promptly or going above and beyond to create a magical memory, these genuine gestures foster strong connections with our guests. Beyond financial aspects, it's about understanding our guests' needs and desires. Active listening and personalized attention are the keys to creating memorable experiences that turn guests into loyal advocates. As we continue to grow and evolve in our respective businesses, let's remember the Ritz-Carlton $2,000 Rule. By fostering a culture of exceptional service, we can elevate the guest experience to new heights. Together, let's create unforgettable moments of joy and leave a lasting impression on our guests. Embracing the spirit of the $2,000 Rule, we can solidify our place as top destinations in the entertainment venue industry. #CustomerExperience #HospitalityExcellence #ExceptionalService #Puttshack #Nightlife

It's that time of the week again.. Fun Fact Friday! 💡 Or should I say.. Fun Fail Friday 😆 Today we are going to explore some of the biggest fails in events history. Do you remember the time when presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winner for Best Picture at the 2017 Academy Awards? 🫣 Or the time Woodstock '99 turned into a chaotic nightmare due to poor planning, exorbitant food prices, and scorching heat? 🔥 These are just some of the examples from high profile big scale events that went wrong due to poor event management.. These epic events fails just show how incredibly important it is to have impeccable attention to detail and proper risk management plans in place when organising events. Read the full blog about some epic events fails and lessons learned below 👇 https://lnkd.in/gBFNsQvs Feel free to share some of your own personal events fails in the comments 🙈 #eventmanagement #eventfails #funfactfriday #epicfails #festivals #academyawards #fyrefestival #woodstock #riskmanagement

From sophisticated new hotels to immersive art exhibits, here's how to do Vegas differently. 👇
I've been waiting for this article to publish! 😀 Las Vegas has been one of my top destinations to cover this year, with four stories out so far, another one commissioned, and more pitches swirling! In this feature for Travel + Leisure, I cover the new, different, and trendy side of Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority - LVCVA, including where to stay (Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas by Curio Collection by Hilton, and Durango Casino & Resort by Station Casinos are some of my recs), play (local shopping, sports, and art > gambling, IMO), and indulge (great cocktails, casual bites, and a food tour with Lip Smacking Foodie Tours are the way to go!). Please take a read and let me know what you think 😊
