Upon our arrival at the Pohoda Festival on Thursday, we did not anticipate the unexpected extreme weather event that ultimately led to the early ending of the festival. We greatly appreciate the trust and opportunity provided by the Pohoda team, allowing us to be one of the event’s partners, and we are thankful for the space for our panels within the Aktuality.sk tent🎪 and public screening booths.   We wish to acknowledge our collaborative speakers: from the field of oncology-breast cancer, MUDr. Bela Mrinakova and Dominika Kormanová from OZ Amazonky; from the field of oncodermatology, MUDr. Zuzana Murárová, PhD.; and from the field of neurology, MUDr. Alzbeta Štofíková, MUDr. Vladimíra Mydlová, and patient Veronika. Panels during Friday reached almost full capacity, reaching hundreds of people, helping us spread awareness about multiple diseases. We also extend our thanks to moderator Samuel Kováčik for his excellent facilitation of our discussions, and to Mgr. Lele Tarbuk Zemanová for leading the discussion on melanoma and organizing the private screening booths, which successfully screened the moles of over 430 individuals. Additional gratitude goes to patient ambassador Jana Šišková, all representatives of OZ Amazonky for their breast cancer awareness efforts, to NIE RAKOVINE for their support in creating awareness materials for the showers and to Kreatívna Dvojica for the creation of a unique multiple sclerosis campaign during the event.   Finally, we express our appreciation to all Novartis Slovakia associates who contributed, and to Samuel Hollis, our Country President, who attended all our activities and ensured our safety on Friday evening. 💙 We remain confident in the Pohoda team’s ability to overcome this setback and look forward to partnering again in 2025, with continued efforts to reach audiences and raise awareness about serious, but treatable diseases. 🧬🎫

In addition to our ongoing efforts to increase public awareness in different therapeutic areas, we are dedicated to expanding the knowledge base of our associates as well. Last week, our colleagues from Neuroscience team have attended European Academy of Neurology, which took place this year in Helsinki, Finland. In terms of care of patients diagnosed with #MultipleSclerosis, it was again confirmed, that the key to best patient outcomes is early diagnosis and initiation of suitable effective treatment as soon as possible. #EANHelsinki2024 #Neuroscience

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in women 🎀 In Slovakia over the past decade, there has been a recorded increase of up to 48 % in the incidence of breast cancer in the age group of 35-40 years. The results speak for themselves: when detected in the early stages, the chance of patient survival for 10 years or more is up to 89 %. In the metastatic stage, this decreases to only 10 %. The key to success is regular prevention, which we emphasize in our new awareness campaign in Slovakia. We would like to thank OZ Amazonky, Liga proti rakovine / League Against Cancer, and NIE RAKOVINE for their support in the campaign and for everything else that they are doing for the patient community. Yesterday, on the occasion of World Multiple Sclerosis Day, we prepared a breakfast for colleagues with discussion on topic of multiple sclerosis (MS). A lot of myths about MS are still persistent, and that is why we decided to raise awareness about this disease within our company. Our colleagues had the opportunity to test their knowledge and also to take tests and measure their cognitive functions' speed. The dress code was orange, to symbolically express #MSconnections 🧡 #WorldMSDay

We did it! 🏃♂️ Last Saturday, our team of runners participated in the Run for Healthy Breasts. This charity 5 km run aims to not only raise awareness about #breastcancer and support the fight against it, but also highlights the need for a healthy lifestyle and early prevention. As a main partner of the event, our Country President Samuel Hollis welcomed all the runners and signalled our commitment to reimagining medicine in breast cancer, we also had our own Novartis team of runners proudly supporting this worthy cause, prioritizing the physical health of associates and strengthening the team spirit outside of the office. At Novartis Slovakia, we strongly believe in the power of visibility and setting an example for creating a meaningful impact. Big congratulation also goes to OZ Amazonky and Ružová stužka, n.f. for great coordination of the event. Looking forward to the next year already!
