Helping people leaders build a workplace that top talent wants to join & stay with. 🔷 President & CEO, ColorVizion Lab
Last night, I was fortunate to attend "DEI on the Line" at The Gathering Spot, hosted by Ryan Wilson. The panel discussion with Nzinga “Zing” Shaw, Candace M. Stanciel, M. Ed., and Angelica Geter, DrPH, MPH left me feeling... 🔗Enlightened 🔗Understood 🔗Energized So much wisdom was shared, I'll need several posts to do it justice. But one point by Nzinga particularly resonated: as DEI practitioners, we are charged with the responsibility of explaining to leaders why it's in their best interest to empower historically excluded voices in the workplace. This includes giving historically excluded individuals decision-making power, access to leadership roles, and the opportunity to deliver innovation and creativity. The bottom line is DEI is good for business. New research constantly underscores the direct correlation between DEI and stronger revenue growth, innovation, and profitability. While the human impact alone should be enough, framing DEI in terms of business value is most impactful because it’s what the corporate world understands. I’m deeply grateful for spaces like The Gathering Spot for providing safe platforms for learning, venting, and strategizing without judgment. Well done, TGS. #diversityequityinclusion

I truly appreciate the recognition from the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)...obviously this is not purely an individual award but rather one that shows the collective commitment and dedication of the entire Constellation IT organization. In a world where technology is continually transforming the way we live and work, it is crucial that we ensure the transformation is inclusive. Initiatives to empower minority businesses are not just about social responsibility; it’s about driving innovation, fostering creativity, and building a stronger, more diverse business ecosystem.
Congratulations to SVP and Chief Information Officer Jay Cavalcanto on being named CIO of the Year by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) as part of the organization’s 2024 Equity Honors. The award recognizes Jay’s leadership in driving Constellation’s commitment to and support of minority- and women-owned businesses as well advocating for our IT partners to continually leverage and expand the diverse supplier ecosystem.

Empowering Businesses Through Culture & People | Chief Culture Officer at trueU & ML Talent Strategies
As the year draws to a close, it's a moment to reflect on something truly special – our company culture. In many ways, it's the heartbeat of our organization. It shapes how we work, interact, and thrive together. This past year, our culture has been a source of strength, resilience, and innovation. It's what's brought our teams closer despite any challenges. It's fueled our determination, creativity, and collaboration. But reflection isn't just about looking back; it's about planning for the future. How can we continue to nurture and strengthen our culture in the year ahead? What new traditions, values, or initiatives should we embrace? At #trueU, we're excited to be on this journey with you, as together we craft a culture that elevates our people and drives our success. As we reflect on the year behind us, what's one aspect of your company's culture that you're particularly proud of? Share your thoughts! I often reflect on the power of networking and how it can help me as an MD, navigate this ever-changing landscape of the construction industry. In 2023, my reflection word is ‘resilience’. The strength to overcome challenges and keep moving forward. Looking ahead to 2024, I’m adopting a ‘growth mindset’. Embracing continual learning and development as a key to success. Networking goes beyond transactions; it’s about authentic connections that contribute to our collective resilience and growth mindset. What key words guide your journey in 2023 and 2024? #resilience #growth #mindset #networking #growthmindset

As we approach the new year, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the value of personal development - because let’s face it, life isn’t just about mahi and projects, right? Reflecting on the past and looking ahead isn’t just for our professional selves - it’s a bit like juggling life with husbands, wives, kids, whanau, and community commitments. It’s absolute chaos. And personal development could be the secret that keeps us sane(ish). Personal development is like being the CEO of your life, navigating the boardroom meetings with hubby, negotiating treaties with your children, attending PTA conferences (aka survival of the fittest, and I’ve just tapped out), and being the superhero māmā when your kid comes home with tomorrows class Christmas party menu. So, let’s swap stories on how you balance these roles in your daily life. What are your personal growth aspirations for this whirlwind of a journey? #personaldevelopment #reflections #continuousimprovement

This story has a happy ending: Samira Manfon was in such a low place that getting out of bed was a struggle. Talking was a struggle. She’d just lost out on a promotion and it crushed her confidence. She almost didn’t apply to our career accelerator. But we’re so glad she did because she blew us away with her courage and insight! I remember thinking, “she’s exactly who we had in mind when we created the program.” The vote was unanimous. Samira was admitted into the program with flying colors. She showed up every week and put her full heart into supporting her peers. And a few months after graduation, she got a promotion. Samira, we’re so proud of your perseverance, leadership, and excellence. Congratulations on your well-deserved promotion! ********* Fix The Broken Rung’s goal is to help one million women of color achieve promotions. Check out our upcoming Promotion Strategy Master Class to learn the step-by-step playbook Samira used to level up. Link in the comments.
