GP Patient Survey 2024 published today - overall patient satisfaction has improve compared to 2023, but remain substantially below pre-pandemic levels. But what does the survey show about inequalities? Read our article in Pulse Today where we show: - persistent inequalities in patient satisfaction, access, continuity and trust both across socio-economic groups and also within ICBs. The gap has narrowed slightly in 2024, but remains substantial - widespread regional variation in patient satisfaction with an average high of 82% patient satisfaction in Dorset ICB compared to 67% in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ICB. We argue that - these inequalities are part of a broader pattern of poorer quality general practice in poorer areas, supporting previous work by Becks Fisher with The Health Foundation and others - to address these we need to address inequalities in the structural determinants of primary care quality, such as funding, workforce and workload.
