Recommendations from the National Institute for Health and Care excellence specifically mention how interventions that support positive relationships in looked-after children help improve a wide range of outcomes including educational, relational, and physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing. Fundamentally having people you know care about you means a lot. Can you imagine what it would feel like to not feel this about anyone? In particular, having at least one adult other than a parent who takes a strong interest in them as a long-term mentor and role model can have a significant impact. Someone who is there consistently, shows persistence and understanding, and responds both to behaviours that challenge and which are positive. Social workers, teachers and other professionals can play this role, but they're so stretched and have high workloads. So this is what we do at Care to Dance. We understand, we know how to be there for and support our young people and do what we need to, to make sure they know we're there for them - inside and outside of sessions. Every young person will have someone to talk to, whether that be something positive or painful, so they are heard and listened to. We want to help as many young people as we can to have access to this kind of support. But we need your help to do that. We'd love to talk to you about how we might be able to partner or work together, or how you can make our work keep happening. Find out more on our website -

Group Commercial Director (TIGERS Group) | Creator of Hidden Voices | Advocate for a Compassionate Economy & Social Change | Favourite Pastime - Helping Others Achieve Their Aims.
I talk a lot about social change and social value on this and other platforms. And this morning a colleague at Tigers Group asked me, in relation to the event below, and I'm paraphrasing, why we were choosing to do things that are not easy. It was a direct question, the type we should have a response for and I answered... "With knowledge comes a choice. To hold or to share. Knowing that sharing can immeasurably improve children’s lives, create positive ripple effects in communities and without hyperbole influence a country’s future the decision to do or not becomes almost moot, if, of course, you have the drive, resource and compassionate compass to do so." In short because I believe it offers the potential to be socially significant. If your role involves working with young people, or indeed the adults in lives of young people, I believe this event could be hugely beneficial to you. This particular Early Years Conference focuses on the impact of love and connection on early childhood development. It aims to bring together practitioners, educators, and policymakers to explore the effects of trauma on young minds and the importance of nurturing relationships. With speakers like Dr. Suzanne Zeedyk, Leslee Udwin and Sarah Ockwell-Smith, the event will highlight the biological impact of attachment and the power of emotionally available relationships. It will also challenge cultural norms and provoke fierce curiosity. This, undoubtedly, aligns with social change and social impact by promoting the well-being and development of children through compassionate and informed practices. I would propose that it is Prehabilitation in action. Enjoy your evening, I look forward to seeing you in Glasgow at the end of August. Group discount codes are available, feel free to reach out for those. https://lnkd.in/ePbNVVE7 #Leadership #SocialChange #EarlyYears #CloseCommunity

When kids and families begin working with us, we promise that we’re partners in helping them reach their goals to be happier, healthier individuals. We work to convince them they can overcome any obstacles, no matter their background. It’s not always an easy sell. We know that kids in our facilities may have had loved ones and mentors break promises before. We know that families who seek help from our organization feel burned by past experiences or feel exhausted by the challenges that may lay ahead. Through our full range of services and with our incredible staff, we work to address kids’ and families’ needs holistically, whether they need in-facility support, community-based programs or a combination. Time and again, we work to follow through on our promises. Read more about our end-of-year goals.

December is not just the holiday season. It is also Universal Human Rights Month. This observance was established following the turmoil of World Ward II, when the Commission on Human Rights wrote a document called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It states: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience, and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." The emphasis on human rights during this month is crucial because all human beings have inherent value and are deserving of dignity, access to education and information, freedom, protection from torture and inhumane treatment, the right to work, expression, access to healthcare, autonomy, protection from discrimination, adequate living conditions, and respect. During December, contribute to mental wellness by raising awareness about the importance of human rights. By amplifying the conversation, you play a crucial role in building a society that values the well-being of every individual, creating a foundation for positive mental health. #UniversalHumanRightsMonth
