𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱? Six years ago, I gave this presentation on how to build the largest parcel locker network in the world. Today, I can confidently check that box with "DONE." ✅ According to the latest report by Last Mile Experts , Estonia leads Europe (and probably the World) with an impressive 12.7 parcel lockers per 10,000 people. For comparison, Poland and the Czech Republic each have 9.6 lockers per 10,000 people, while Sweden follows with 9.5. There are several reasons for this achievement, starting from the small size of the country to the innovative spirit of the nation. But the major gratitude goes to companies like Omniva, Itella Estonia, DPD Eesti, Venipak , DHL Express Estonia AS, UPS, and Unisend Eesti, whose unwavering commitment and vision have driven this growth. Nothing happens by itself. It is the vision and belief of leaders throughout the last 12 years of those companies that made it happen. 【Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference 2023 💡】 ➡ Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC), a premier logistics event that brought together industry leaders, innovators, and experts under one roof. Held from 21-22 Nov 23 in Hong Kong, the exhibition proved to be an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange and networking. ➡ The ALMAC was packed with engaging sessions and thought-provoking discussions. I was particularly inspired by the keynote address on the theme of this year's ALMAC "The Future of Supply Chains: Diversity. Carbon reduction. Digitalisation", which shed light on emerging technologies and innovative strategies that are reshaping the logistics landscape. The panel discussions exploring sustainable supply chain practices and the potential of artificial intelligence in optimizing logistics operations were equally enlightening. ➡ The exhibitor showcase at the event was truly impressive. I was fascinated by the exhibitors' displays featuring state-of-the-art logistics technologies, such as autonomous delivery systems, blockchain-based supply chain solutions, and advanced warehouse management systems. It was inspiring to witness firsthand the groundbreaking innovations that are revolutionizing the logistics industry. ➡ The exhibition was a hub of networking and relationship-building. I had the privilege of connecting with industry leaders, logistics professionals, and technology experts who shared their experiences and insights. These interactions not only expanded my professional network but also opened doors to potential collaborations and partnerships that can drive innovation and growth in the logistics sector. ➡ As a whole, it refreshed my good memory to be invited by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to be speaker for ALMAC to talk about 'Digital Supply Chains for F&B Logistics: Increasing Competitive Edge for E-commerce Highway' back in 2017 when I was responsible to develop the cross-border supply chain solutions for Lazada/Alibaba Group. ✨ As always: Logistics (in broader term: Supply Chain) is one of the solid pillars and plays a vital role in the commerce ecosystem in particular, in Hong Kong. Bringing together a diverse team from four countries, we embarked on a journey to explore Montea’s strategy and DNA. Through captivating keynotes, we delved deep into the heart of Montea’s success story. The event featured presentations on various critical topics, including ESG, business cases, HR, and regional insights from Montea Netherlands, France, Belgium and Germany. We jumped on a bus to explore Delhaize Belgium's new e-commerce home delivery center in Brussels, a prime example of a successful brownfield transformation. We also made our analysts feel like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, with an in-depth tour of DHL’s intricate airport hub operations, showcasing global connectivity and logistics precision.
