Hello, I'm CT Celeste Tan Video Journalist Intern from OGS! When I recount one of my memorable experiences so far, it would've been my shoot with Kakak Amrah. During this shoot, I met an amazing mother and an extremely heartwarming person. While listening to her interview, I could feel the genuine love and trust she places in herself and her kids. It felt refreshing to listen and learn about someone who had been through so much negativity and danger, be able to look forward to the future and put her entire soul into what she loves to do. She inspired me to be content with what I have; even if things seem impossible at times, it's up to me to make it possible for myself. Through that, I could tell why this story was being told to the public, to tell others that they will always have a chance at living the life they want. (Eating her food also made it more memorable 🤭🤭🤭) Watch her story here: https://lnkd.in/dat_m543 #whyogs #interninsight

I've seen a ton of posts from people announcing that they secured a spot with Penguin Random House for their Summer internship programs - to those people, huge congratulations! It's an amazing and extremely competitive opportunity, so everyone who made the cut should feel proud. But I applied, and I didn't get in. And I know there's far more people like me, who didn't make the cut. And we don't hear from them, because no one wants to put "Penguin Random House: rejected" on their resume. How about... "Penguin Random House: tried"? There's something to be said for trying and failing, and if you work in publishing, you know there is a lot of that. So why do we treat it like it has no value, like it's hush-hush to fail? You have ambition. You are bold, you believe in yourself, and you are not afraid to be decisive, take risks, and chase every opportunity for growth. Next time you get the "unfortunately" email, don't forget that it doesn't take these things away from you. To everyone who 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛'𝑡 make the cut on your internship applications, your novel submissions, your job applications, your assessments, whatever the case may be: congratulations, you deserve as much credit for the effort you put out there as anyone else. In the wise words of Garfunkel and Oates: 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑎 𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑟, 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝐼𝑡'𝑠 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎 𝑙𝑜𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑑𝑜 𝑇𝑟𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑑, 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡'𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝑑𝑜 𝑖𝑡 𝐿𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑑, 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑖𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑖𝑡 𝐵𝑢𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 Anyways, I've been listening to this song on repeat this week, picking myself up to keep advocating for myself. You can't lose if you don't get in the ring, but you can't win, either. https://lnkd.in/duzXDcMe

Big news! Fox&Fifth is thrilled to be recognised as a Disability Confident Committed video production agency. What does this mean? It means we’re committed to amplifying disabled voices through film and supporting disabled filmmakers and creatives in their endeavours. Video production has long been a notoriously inaccessible industry. We’re doing our part to change that and are working towards offering job shadowing opportunities for up-and-coming disabled video creatives. We’re also hard at work developing authentic projects around disability that transcend tired cliches and worn-out approaches. There’s a long road ahead, but we’re excited to see where it takes us! #DisablityConfident #DisabilityFilmmaking #Creative #Accessibility

The photo was taken 17 years ago when I conquered Mount Kinabalu with a group of my high school friends. Just six months earlier, I had completed my National Service. Surprisingly, I thought I was fit enough and skipped any training. Our trek started at 7 am, and by the time we reached the station, it was nearly 6 pm. The worst part was that I had injured one of my knees. The next day, hoping for improvement, I found that both knees were extremely painful and barely functional. Should I give up? As we faced the final 3.8 km to conquer Southeast Asia's highest mountain, I hesitated, unsure if I would return. Ultimately, I decided to push on. From 2 am until I reached the peak after 6 am, I literally crawled, my gloves torn and ruined. But when I glimpsed the breathtaking scenery from the summit, I felt every ounce of pain was worth it. The lessons I learned: 1. Be prepared for your journey to avoid unnecessary pain. 2. Setting clear goals and understanding your "why" is crucial; it keeps you going when quitting feels easy. 3. Don’t walk alone; seek support along the way. 4. Embrace your unique pace and strengths; the race is personal. Whenever I encounter challenges now, I recall these lessons. I remind myself that things will be okay; we just need to push through.

Are you or do you know anyone between the ages of 18-25 that is searching for a next step in life but don't know exactly what direction you should put your next footprint? Do you have a desire to live and work alongside others in the same position while exploring the Colorado mountains, your relationship with God, and conducting mission trips across the globe? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I suggest you take a look at the E4 Life Gap Year Program. My eldest daughter is a student in the program this year. She graduated high school not knowing what she wanted to do despite being offered a manager position (which came with a house) at a horse ranch here in Colorado for Olympic horses, didn't know where God wanted her to put her energy, and couldn't live in my house with no plan (same rules given to me when I graduated high school). E4 Life Gap Year has been truly amazing for her and her housemates. Exploring the mountains, doing things she would have never done on her own, mission trips to include upcoming trips to Peru and other nations, and foundation of some great relationships . . . I can't understate the power of this program. If you are unable to attend the next E4 Life Gap Year open house on 17 November, hit up me or Jared Bryant and we can get you connected with the right folks. Honestly, you can't go wrong exploring this as an option. #gapyear #opportunities #opportunity #planning #nextsteps #lifegrowth #education #missiontrips #personalgrowth #connection

In case you have not had time to watch this, please do. This video was created not only for marketing purposes, but for ourselves, our employees, our families and friends. In the midst of the daily grind, the challenging and frustrating days (and sometimes the good ones) it reminds us from a birds eye view, our purpose at work. Why we show up everyday and give our best, how we support our families, and best of all, showcase our finished product, our sense of belonging and accomplishment. If you do not have a video like this of your team, I suggest you make one (and update every few years) it is easy to do, does not have to cost a lot of money, and is a real morale booster. #craftmanship#teamwork#luxuryinteriors#handcrafted
