Os produtores de eletricidade do Brasil reduziram sua dependência do gigantesco sistema de barragens hidrelétricas do país, aumentando drasticamente a produção de parques solares e eólicos desde 2018, mostram dados do think tank de energia Ember. A parcela da eletricidade gerada por fontes hidrelétricas caiu de 74% em 2018 para 67% em 2023, enquanto as instalações solares e eólicas aumentaram sua participação combinada no bolo de geração de eletricidade do Brasil de 9% para 22% no mesmo período. As empresas de energia também reduziram drasticamente o uso de usinas elétricas movidas a carvão e gás natural para eletricidade desde 2018, elevando a participação dos combustíveis fósseis no mix de geração de eletricidade do Brasil para um nível recorde de 7,6% no ano passado. https://lnkd.in/deD4ZR74

The global energy panorama is experiencing an immense transformation due to its shift concerning a decarbonised future. Renewable energy sources are essential for accomplishing this. One of the most potential adaptations is floating offshore wind, based on floating structures instead of permanent ones. Potentially less of an impact on the environment and ease of fabrication and installation as compared to fixed offshore wind are two benefits of floating offshore wind. #celticsea can potentially develop into the largest hub for offshore floating energy establishment. With strong wind resources, favourable seabed water depths, and proximity to centres of power demand the Celtic Sea is an attractive market. The fixed offshore wind farms of today can only be located in waters up to 60 metres deep. That is not even close to the depths of the Celtic Sea, which contains 80% of the world's offshore wind potential. Some projects, like the Cornwall Flow Commission (Cuffs) project, have the potential to bolster the Celtic Sea's position even more. The 250 MW South Brittany floating offshore wind auction, the first of its kind on a commercial scale worldwide, has already had its winners named by #france. Another significant development is #ireland's Emerald Floating Offshore Wind Farm with a maximum capacity of 1.3GW. The Crown Estate (TCE) has set a target of 4.5GW of FLOW in this region by 2035, with a further 12GW by 2045, under the #uk Shared Prosperity Fund. It is an excellent possibility that comes with numerous #economic #social and #ecological advantages for the Celtic region. With the leading developers like Crown Estate's entails and recent outlines timelines for the leasing procedure for the seabed are expected to be announced in 2024. In the Celtic Sea, off the shores of South Wales and South West England, Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5 aims to create a new floating wind sector. It is anticipated to represent the Celtic Sea's initial stage of commercial growth. RWE could be a leading developer involved in this region. For the Celtic Sea region, the development of a floating wind industry offers a multibillion-pound opportunity for investment and economic growth. RWE's interest in FLOW in the Celtic Sea region is demonstrated by their research with Swansea-based Marine Power Systems Ltd (MPS), exploring the prospects for ports and suppliers in the region. Regulators and project developers are involved in shaping the faster deployment of floating wind in the Celtic Sea, with an emphasis on worldwide market potential, global industry development, and global trends. Sabendo a mina de ouro em que portugal se encontra nesta matéria, é com elevada ânsia que olho para estas eleições. Felizmente, depois de ler os programas sei que os dois maiores partidos, tendo planos bastante parecidos, podem cooperar no assunto energético. Espero apenas que não se lide com este assunto como se lidou com o aeroporto de Lisboa O partido CHEGA, tem uma visão que não consigo compreender, ignorando o potencial eólico e preferindo ir pelo nuclear, tecnologia que para além do elevado custo nos dias de hoje, sabemos que a população já discutiu o assunto quando tinha que ser discutido. Não se ignore a elevada importância que as eólicas flutuantes podem ter para a nossa economia, criando eletricidade mais barata para a nossa indústria e aumentando a nossa soberania energética e capacidade de exportação. Há um longo caminho a tomar para ser possível instalar as eólicas no que toca a capacidade industrial e portuária mas quanto mais cedo começarmos, mais cedo colhemos os frutos, como foi o caso das eólicas onshore. Espero que isto seja um assunto tratado com a maior brevidade possível assim que começar o novo governo, os investidores aguardam resolução por parte das nossas instituições para poder avançar os projetos com um bom planeamento e estabilidade legal/contratual.

More good news coming up ⏬ ✅ More than 213GW of offshore wind potential in its waters, of which floating accounts for 97%. Italy’s deep waters are mostly unsuitable for fixed-bottom projects, but offer an exciting opportunity for floating wind developers. To put this in context, Italy only has one operational offshore wind farm. A consortium led by Renexia Spa completed the 30MW Beleolica offshore wind farm, Taranto in 2022 with Mingyang Smart Energy turbines. So back to the exploding Italian floating offshore market….🚀 This month, German developer BayWa r.e. EMEA announced plans for 1️⃣4️⃣ floating wind farms in Italy totalling 9GW. 🌊 6 floating offshore winds farms off the Sicilian coast 🌊 4 near Sardinia 🌊 2 off the west coast near Lazio and 🌊 2 off the east coast near Puglia. BayWa r.e. EMEA expects to commission between 3 and 5 projects by 2030, with total capacity of up to 2GW and worth around €6bn. Already active in the UK, France, Germany, Portugal and Australia, this environmentally-friendly “Italian Job” will help establish BayWa r.e. EMEA as a leading offshore wind developer. We've had a look into Floating Offshore Wind this week.... ℹ️ 2 x new innovation collaboration programmes in Europe ℹ️ The UK forecast and targets, growth opportunity and Celtic Sea FOW scope + scale What's going on in the UK to support this drive to FOW adoption? ⏩ Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult Has two core FOW focus areas; FLOWIC is the £9m newly opened 'Innovation Centre' for FOW in Aberdeen's Energy Transition Zone and updated £420m deep-water harbour facilities. With dedicated testing and validation areas and equipment for dynamic cable systems, scaled down anchor systems, hexapod motion platform for tidal and wave condition testing, and VR studio for scenario training. In parallel ORE's Floating Offshore Wind Centre of Excellence, is a programme geared to reduce LCOE while driving innovation and supply chain growth. It's programmes cover cost reduction, deployment, contracting, insurance, policy and technology risk. ⏩ ORE and Net Zero Technology Centre They have teamed up via the Energy Transition Alliance to enable decarbonisation of existing North Sea and Scotlands O&G sector. Subsequently launching the INTOG innovation programme [Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas] and leasing round. March 2023, Crown Estate Scotland leasing round, projects were split between; ⚙️ Innovation [IN] - commercial pilot scale under 100MW x 5 projects = 747.25MW ⚙️ Targeted Oil & Gas [TOG] - FOW x 8 projects = 4,967MW ⏩ The Carbon Trust A long running programme, the Floating Wind Joint Industry Programme JIP, was founded back in 2016. This has brought some major industry corporates together, 17 of them in fact - all the big logos. 5 key areas of focus; ⚙️ Electrical systems ⚙️ Mooring systems ⚙️ Logistics ⚙️ Turbine and foundation optimisation ⚙️ Asset integrity Having now delivered Phase V reporting, it looks to have concluded its core programme. I have had confirmation the programme is continuing, so we await further news.... So what does all this mean? Well it looks to me like we have a solid base of initial activity. We have some outstanding facilities and drivers coming from ORE, pushing forward with innovation and skills support. We have had some corporate activity but that looks to have stalled at least for now. What else is out there, other key programmes on innovation I've missed? So what next? We have some big decisions and policy actions to take. We need a joined up strategy for FOW bringing together all stakeholders; Innovation, Ecosystem Testing & Validation, Corporate, Finance, Insurance, Operations, Port Infrastructure, Grid, People & Skills, Universities, Regional Hubs, Supply Chain etc. A lot to do, a lot of opportunity, not much time.
