Full-stack ML engineer You will be building models that cluster data and detect anomalous patterns in it, training fraud detection models or recommender systems that prioritize cases for compliance officers. Ideal industry background is newsfeeds, recommendations, e-commerce, adtech, or anti-fraud, but we are open to everyone. 2. CV engineer Image generation has advanced in the past two years (have you noticed?) and is now unfortunately heavily used by fraudsters. Detecting deep fakes from face swaps to fully generated videos to AI-altered documents is a challenge and also our core technology, which you will be improving. 3. Responsible AI Engineer We care a lot about making our AI systems compliant with various regulations (all regulations as we operate globally). In this role, you will work closely with our Legal and AI Ethics people to make sure our systems are compliant (and this is much more than just fair and unbiased). 4. Backend engineer In this role, your goal will be to make sure that models developed by people above find their way into production. It is a challenge to build a model; it is even more challenging to scale it. Unlike customer support staff, AI is not replacing developers; instead, it's enabling them to achieve more. Companies won't cut down their developer teams from 100 to zero due to AI. Rather, they'll solve ten times as many problems with the same team, producing ten times more software at significantly higher quality. 200K new IT jobs in 2022, 700 in 2023 and 2024 is flat - didn't know the numbers but we all feel this and understand this to be true. The part about AI reducing IT jobs is far less certain. ChatGPT and similar tools make good Chatbots, write emails, presentations, etc. but what's the quality of using it to architect, engineer and design systems. I've talked to a lot of folks using it to help them write code but replacing Software Engineers en masse which is what people believe is driving this lack of hiring? I don't think we're there yet. I believe hiring is way down because: 1) Companies over-hired and over-invested in IT over the last 4-5 years. Now they're correcting and paring back. 2) Uncertainty! Economic and Political... people (CEO's and Boards) don't invest in the future when the future is so uncertain. 3) Perception - a perception AI will require them to need fewer folks. In the long run this will absolutely be true - today? Not seeing yet. Has this been your experience as well?

Stack Overflow lays off 28% of staff in AI surge-Wes Davis Stack Overflow, the coding help platform, is cutting 28% of its workforce after doubling its staff in a hiring push last year. CEO Prashanth Chandrasekar revealed the downsizing, primarily impacting the go-to-market organization and supporting teams. Although the company didn't specify the reasons, the move follows an AI boom that integrated chatbots into the tech industry, posing challenges to traditional coding assistance. Stack Overflow also temporarily banned AI-generated answers last year but faced moderation issues. The company now aims to charge AI firms for training on its site. The changes come as the AI coding trend continues to grow.
