So...what do we do? Alternatives provide support in three different ways: Counselling Service - we offer counselling to anyone who has been effected by pregnancy related challenges. Our qualified counsellors offer a professional, unbiased service in a calm and confidential setting. Charity Shops - we want to make sure that everyone can afford baby items no matter their budget. We stock high end and sought after items at low cost. Baby Baskets - Raising a baby is expensive and we want to offer hope at the beginning of this journey. Our ‘Baby Baskets’ contain supplies for the first three months of your baby’s life and are completely free (conditions apply). #ParentandBabySupport #Alternatives #CounsellingService #CharityShops #BabyBaskets #HertfordshireCharity

The latest Care Quality Commission Maternity Survey shows despite positive improvements, there continues to be a long-term decline in people's experience of maternity care. Robert Wilson, Head of our Joint Policy Unit with Sands - baby loss charity says: "Today’s Care Quality Commission survey of maternity care shows that despite some positive parent experiences, there remain key areas for improvement. Future surveys must include the voice of bereaved parents, so that those who have experienced the worst outcomes are reflected." Maternity Worldwide is an incredible charity which works in low-income countries to help women and girls access the high quality maternal health care they need to be able to give birth safely. Having a baby should be a time of great joy and hope. But every year across the world 287,000 women die in pregnancy and childbirth. That’s one mother dying every two minutes, 800 each day. These women do not need to suffer and die. Most lives could be saved relatively easily and cheaply. The direct and measurable causes of deaths in pregnancy and childbirth are mainly: - Severe bleeding (mostly after childbirth) - Infections - High blood pressure during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia) - Unsafe abortions These account for 80% of deaths. There is still time for you to donate in support of their Big Give 2023 Christmas Appeal. The campaign closes at midday tomorrow (Tuesday, 5th December). It is your final chance to double the difference your generous contribution makes and support the life-saving and essential work of Maternity Worldwide. Matched funding means your donation is doubled! Approximately 1.9 million stillbirths occur worldwide every year. That’s one baby every 16 seconds. Miscarriages are even more common, with 10–15% of pregnant women losing their baby before 28 weeks. Baby loss takes a huge emotional toll on women and families. This is especially apparent when considering that the topic is still surrounded by stigma, leading to feelings of shame and a lack of available resources. Fortunately, charities are working hard to provide families with the support they need after the death of a baby. So, we had to ask: What are the best charities for stillborn babies & baby loss? 👇 https://lnkd.in/dXX7CZ_f March of Dimes, Star Legacy Foundation, Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support, Inc., Tommy's, GAPPS (Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth), STILLBIRTH AND NEONATAL DEATH SOCIETY, The Colette Louise Tisdahl Foundation, Genesis Research Trust, Project Sweet Peas #charitysupport #stillborn #babyloss #babylosssupport #familysupport

The Bridge Community Foundation wants to open up applications to provide assistance to NYC families! Our mission is to heal the unmet maternal healthcare needs of the families we serve by providing direct access to funding, resources, and support from providers and professionals we know personally from The Bridge Directory. There are so many gaps that exist in our current healthcare experience. Who else is going to fill them, if we don't? Who will create the solutions we need? Our initiatives include: Access - Care - Education Access is a key component to our mission. This includes community funding. Our Community Fund provides access to experienced birth and postpartum doulas and home birth midwives. Your donation could fund: doula services for a BIPOC family, a lactation visit for a struggling mom/parent, or a homebirth for parents-to-be with a midwife they trust. Your financial gift will directly benefit families looking for funding and access to high-quality care. This community fund is for pregnant/new parents and families of color living in New York City and surrounding areas. We work on an honor based system, with a simple application process, and short phone interview, when applicable. Payments are made directly to the providers. Here is how you can help: We need at least 100 people to pledge $15/month and you can support the birth and postpartum of someone's dreams today. Contribute, share, spread the word. https://lnkd.in/gAKT6Bvv

❤ Nurturing responsiveness in infancy is crucial for laying the foundation of a child's mental and physical health. When caregivers consistently meet a baby's needs with sensitivity and warmth, it fosters a sense of security that lasts a lifetime. These early positive experiences help buffer against the negative effects of stress and adversity, reducing the likelihood of mental health challenges and physical issues later in life. The supportive environment provided by nurturing caregivers, especially in the first 2 months, contributes to healthy brain and body development. It leads to better stress regulation, improved immune function, and enhanced cognitive abilities. By nurturing infants in responsive and loving ways, adults not only promote their immediate well-being but also lay the groundwork for long-term health. Prevention starts with early caregiving practices! ❤ ➡➡Stay informed about our latest endeavors, including our 24/7 Hotline, dedicated to providing unwavering support, resources, and education for expecting parents navigating unplanned pregnancies. A community’s teen birth rate is an important health indicator. It is often associated with the community’s overall wellness and success. The United States has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the western industrialized world. Louisiana has the third highest teen birth rate in the United States. About 25% of teen moms have a second baby within 24 months of their first baby. Parenthood is the leading reason that teen girls drop out of school with more than 50% of teen mothers never graduating from high school. Less than 2% of teen moms earn a college degree by the age of 30. One Happy Mama is a New Orleans-based organization that is dedicated to empowering and uplifting young mothers through their journey of motherhood, self-fulfillment, and self-discovery while pursuing their happiest lives. Like Whitney Houston said, “I believe the children are the future…” It’s why I am proud to serve as the chair of OHM’s board of directors. I truly believe that every mother and every child and every family deserves to thrive, to live their best life. If you “believe the children are the future” too support OHM’s first-ever Black Maternal Health Week Block Party set for April 20th. We’re on a mission to raise awareness and bring resources directly to our community. cc: Janitza. Here’s how you can help make this event a success: 1.) Sponsorship: If you or your organization would like to sponsor, please reach out or make an introduction. 2.) Community Vendors: Are you in the maternal and family realm? Become a vendor to share your resources and services. 3.) Volunteers: We need enthusiastic volunteers. 4.) Donations: Every contribution counts! We welcome monetary and in-kind donations. Message me or email info@onehappymama.org for more information. #BlackMaternalHealth #CommunitySupport #FollowYourNola #NewOrleans #Motherhood #Parenthood Let’s make a difference together!
