The two new advanced AP1000® PWR reactors at Plant Vogtle were named “Power Plant of the Year” by POWER magazine, well-deserved recognition for Southern Nuclear, Georgia Power Company and the tremendous effort by thousands of professionals who contributed to the project. Vogtle Units 3 and 4 both came online in the last 12 months. The magazine highlighted the reactors’ awesome performance so far. “Vogtle Unit 3’s initial performance has exceeded our expectations,” John Williams, Southern Nuclear senior vice president for Vogtle 3 and 4, told POWER. “Since it began commercial operation in July 2023, Unit 3 has operated at greater than 98% capacity factor, running at 100% since commercial operation was declared with the exception of a planned five-day maintenance outage.” That exceeds the #NuclearEnergy industry average of 93% capacity! Combined, the two AP1000 reactors are churning out enough clean energy to power 1 million homes. They are, Out of step, out of time. Soon to be decommissioned. It will be interesting as the fission fuel shortage becomes real as they try to treble the industry and advances in the renewables, hydrogen grid variable generation and batteries as a system solution of energy generation for the whole of the world not just 39 countries out of 189 not just the rich but for all without weaponisation, without pollution of our waterways and without the need to bury waste that is dangerous for 1000 of tears what a waste of time you are here. Fission is an interim unlike fusion and renewables, with the grid-attached variable hydrogen generators and batteries which are deploying faster in 189 countries as opposed to the 39 that fission can Fission fuel. - FIRST ever U.S. nuclear plant to come back online after decommissioning began.! - The repowering plan must be approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. - In the coming years, regulators are expected to require major refurbishment, rebuilding and replacement of existing equipment. GREAT Federal and State Financial Support (seems to be a PRUDENT decision) - The U.S. Department of Energy approved a $1.52 billion loan to Holtec International. - The Michigan state put $300 million toward the Palisades restart. HISTORY Palisades*** Nuclear Plant STARTED in 1971, was SHUT DOWN in 2022, with the present aim of REstarting the 800 MWe reactor and extending its operation until at least 2051. (Potentially, a whopping 80 years.!) *** Looking at my Largest Privately held Power Plant DATABASE , suggest one of the RECORD Shorter Construction Duration- Compared to Today's Nuclear Industry Experience.! [1] First Concrete was poured on March 4, 1967. [2] Reactor Vessel was Delivered to the Site on October 22, 1968. [3] First nuclear chain reaction occurred on May 24, 1971. [4] First commercial power generation took place on Dec. 31, 1971. TOTAL DURATION = [4] - [1] = < 5 years.! P.S: Significant progress seems to have been made by Holtec International with regard to REpowering Activities. #DATABASE(1970-2024)

Over two weeks have passed since the comment deadline for the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy's draft 2023 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP2023).
