The Leader in Me program, based on Stephen R. Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," has had a significant impact on students in three critical areas: leading self, leading others, and leading change. This program, implemented in schools worldwide, aims to foster leadership and life skills in students, preparing them for future academic and personal success. Leading Self Leader in Me empowers students to develop self-leadership skills, which include self-discipline, personal responsibility, and goal-setting. By internalizing the 7 Habits, students learn to be proactive, set personal goals, and take responsibility for their actions. Research indicates that students involved in the Leader in Me program exhibit increased self-confidence and better self-regulation. For instance, one study found that schools implementing Leader in Me saw improved student behavior and academic performance, demonstrating the program's effectiveness in enhancing self-leadership skills. Leading Others The program also focuses on interpersonal effectiveness by teaching students how to lead others through collaboration, communication, and relationship building. Activities and lessons encourage students to practice empathy, teamwork, and conflict resolution. The development of these skills is evident in the way students interact with their peers, fostering a more inclusive and supportive school environment. A study highlighted that Leader in Me schools reported a significant decrease in bullying incidents and an increase in positive peer interactions【https://lnkd.in/g8ERt_rn Leading Change Lastly, Leader in Me equips students with the skills to lead change within their communities. This includes understanding and practicing the principles of proactive change, such as identifying opportunities for improvement and taking initiative to implement solutions. Students engage in various leadership roles and projects that allow them to experience the impact of their contributions firsthand. Research shows that students in Leader in Me schools demonstrate enhanced problem-solving skills and a greater sense of agency in effecting positive change in their environments【https://lnkd.in/g8ERt_rn. Overall, the Leader in Me program fosters a comprehensive development of leadership skills, preparing students not just for academic success, but for meaningful participation in their communities. The integration of these principles into daily school life creates a culture where students are motivated to lead themselves, collaborate with others, and drive positive change. Gallup Global CliftonStrengths Coach * Leadership Consultant * Executive Coach * Team Development Specialist
I just loved waking up to this message :). Thank you Jarmila Skáre 😊. Leadership training has been a passion since I started my journey in 1991...and still today I am reminded of my why. What is your why? . . . Www.thestrengthsdoc.com #Leadership #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipcoaching #highereducationleadership
Had an amazing experience this weekend at the New Orleans American Student Government Association Conference with the New School University Student Senate! It was truly inspiring to see passionate student leaders coming together to collaborate and share ideas to grow both as individual leaders and as SGs. Dr. Vicky Goodin, The Strengths Doc's leadership training session and W.H. "Butch" Oxendine, Jr. training on making students care about their Student Governments were particularly inspiring. Our team left both sessions with fresh ideas and a great bonding experience. This conference helped me to understand my role better as a part of the student body representative and connect with student leaders from across the country. I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to apply the new knowledge we have gained at The New School! #ASGAConference #StudentLeadership #Collaboration #Inspiration

Need a good start to your week? Here is a inspiring short video on the traits of good leaders from young and future leaders. These are inspirational young leaders with incredible words of wisdom. What they are learning and sharing are what make leaders great. Belpre Elementary School students share their leadership experience Belpre Elementary School has a program for students to become a leader and improve their communication skills. “Leadership mostly because you are very kind and when you are on the lighthouse team and you are like a mean person, people aren’t going to think of you as a leader. So, what I learn the most is being a leader and being kind you know, helping others whenever they need help because sometimes people don’t ask for help because they are like tough, but sometimes they just need a little help” Maddie Richards, Lighthouse team student. https://lnkd.in/eMR9uumq

I've been thinking about ways to spruce up this giant wall in my office for a while. For the last two years, it has been adorned with giant sheets of paper and sticky notes from a leadership training we did with students. Even though I loved having a reminder about our student leader workshop everyday, it was fading and needed to be replaced. I set up this wall for students to take affirmation/motivation cards and/or write cards for their peers. I call it my "Motivation Mountain." #StudentAffairs #StudentServices #OfficeDesign #HigherEducation
