Exploring pathways to foster innovation and level the playing field for the reuse and recycling of plastics has been a pivotal focus for us. Last week, our board member, Esther van den Beuken , engaged in a meaningful discussion with Queen Máxima at Renewi Nederland , accompanied by industry experts Marc den Hartog from Renewi and Anita Scholte op Reimer from Ahold Delhaize, representing expertise in waste management, design, and recycling. Together, we delved into the challenges, and opportunities within the realm of circular plastics. Emphasizing the crucial role of waste policies in creating an environment conducive to sustainable solutions, this dialogue underscored the need for collaboration between, policymakers, researchers, investors and industry players. Initiating a bold move towards a fully circular approach to plastics, CPNL started in 2023, aiming to accelerate the transition with strategic subsidies. Leveraging the support of the Nationaal Groeifonds our focus extends to addressing bottlenecks across diverse value chains, with the ultimate goal of closing the loops for existing plastics. Plastics are a versatile material omnipresent in modern life, but by far not sufficiently recirculated after first use. In Plan-C project the project partners and the associated partners with enterprises from the plastics +machine industry in the Danube Region are joining forces to develop a vision for a transformed plastics value chain designed for circularity, demonstrating the benefits of reuse/recycling of plastics and remanufacturing of machines. Consistent quality in post consumer recycling! How to achieve consistent recycled pellet quality in plastics recycling by exchanging data between the extruder and washing system, and how intelligent energy management reduces costs, was revealed at IFAT in Munich by the EREMA Group and Lindner. It's been great to be part of the PepsiCo Greenhouse Accelerator APAC over the past few months, and we're looking forward to the final pitch this week! A great thanks to Angel Motomal Lisa Zheng and all the guys at PepsiCo and their customers who generously gave us their time to help us learn more about the company and its ambitions, and work with us on designing and testing #reusable solutions for the market. What have we learnt from the experience? 🥤PepsiCo has a target of 20% of all beverages delivered in reusable packaging by 2030. There's a real ambition in the company to make this happen. 2030 isn't that far away! 🤝 #Partnerships are going to be really important for hitting this target. For example, in the Quick Serve Restaurant space, there are several stakeholders involved in getting the drink into the consumer's hands, and subsequently designing a functioning reuse service requires aligning different needs and expectations, including with companies that don't have the same public commitments to meet. 😇 To companies like ours, living and breathing and reuse every day, it's very easy to forget that it's still new to a lot of F&B stakeholders, who are just taking their first steps into this space. We're going to need to be patient, albeit with a sense of urgency, and find ways to de-risk the transition, and pivot and adjust our approach as we grow. #circularity #2030 #reusable #circulareconomy #reusereusereuse

The chemical industry is at the tip of the spear in driving the transition towards a sustainable world. This is another steppingstone for us and a must for all involved in circular economy innovations & creating future proof ecosystems.
