Coverage stock Barton Gold (ASX: BGD) has pushed the gold resource base at its 100%-owned Tunkillia Project in South Australia to 1.493 million oz (51.3Mt @ 0.91 g/t Au), with a new 115,216 oz Au Mineral Resource at Area 51 (4.98Mt @ 0.72 g/t Au). It represents the third Tunkillia JORC update in ~12 months, adding ~530,000oz Au for ~A$15/oz (on ‘all in’ basis). Approximately 55% of the resource is classified within the ‘Indicated’ category. In terms of next steps, BGD's 2024 exploration campaign will be focused on high-grade neighbouring targets at Tunkillia and Tarcoola, as well as moving towards a Scoping Study for the project. BGD maintains 100% ownership of the only regional gold mill, which gives it optionality around project development, where it is likely to target an initial 2Moz Au Resource and annualised production of ~150koz, with interim production options including leveraging its mill to treat higher-grade Tunkillia ore, and toll-treatment of regional ore. #gold #commodities #mining #resources #exploration #equities #ausbiz

#GEF Council approves key funding for #MinamataConvention to combat mercury use in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining From June 17-20, the 67th Global Environment Facility Council convened in Washington, DC, approving crucial funding for the Minamata Convention on Mercury. This includes new initiatives to reduce #mercury use in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (#ASGM), with around $18 million allocated for Reviews of the Implementation of Article 7 (RIAs), Minamata Initial Assessments (MIAs), and National Action Plans (NAPs). Executive Secretary Monika Stankiewicz emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating: "Article 7 remains a priority for national governments to ensure that artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) National Action Plans (NAPs) are living guides that engage all stakeholders in meaningful action." We are also thrilled to share the approval of several other Minamata Convention-related programs and projects to help Parties meet their obligations, including: ✅ A Global Chemical Monitoring Program to support the implementation of Stockholm and Minamata Conventions. ✅ A project to control and reduce mercury emissions from the cement industry in Brazil. ✅ An initiative to strengthen Indonesia’s reduction and elimination of mercury in the healthcare sector. 🎉 And congratulations to Carlos Manuel Rodriguez on his reappointment as CEO and Chairperson of the GEF! Following seven years of negotiations, Aboriginal corporation Djaara enters into a historic gold mining agreement with Canada's Agnico Eagle. Agnico Eagle says its first benefit-sharing agreement in Australia follows similar arrangements with indigenous groups at its home base in Ontario, Canada. The agreement, "bakaru wayaparrangu" which means "in the middle, we meet" extends Djaara influence over employment, environmental impact, and mine remediation giving 'more than just money.' Forte Minerals Corp. (CSE:CUAU, OTCQB:FOMNF) announced that it has finalized the acquisition of the Alto Ruri high sulphidation epithermal gold prospect and the Cerro Quillo porphyry #gold-#copper-#molybdenum prospect located in Perú from its strategic partner Globetrotters Resource Group. The company said the concessions were transferred to its Peruvian subsidiary Cordillera Resources Perú S.A.C., in exchange for a one-time cash payment of US$25,000. It noted that both prospects are located on a contiguous 4700-hectare block of concessions initially acquired by Globetrotters from Compañía Minera Ares S.A.C. in exchange for a 1% net smelter returns royalty interest.
