I had the incredible honor of speaking with our local manufacturing council this week. We discussed regional employment trends, GRP progress, and how industry automation may impact their workforces. I only had 15-minutes to present my data (but still went WAY over my time) and didn't really expand on one of the topics I perceive to be MOST important to the future of manufacturers all over the world: innovation! So, check out the incredible example from the LEGO Group below. Known for generations as little plastic blocks in a bucket, they have evolved to understand a WIDE spectrum of customers from toddlers to seniors. How would YOUR business expand if you started imagining beyond the everyday contents of your cases?

So beautiful. This inspires me: I could imagine getting some of the LEGO Group's botanical sets as an after work "Spring Meet and Greet" or Team Happy Hour activity and then displaying the finished projects in each person's cubicle/desk/office as conversation pieces! You could even have folks exchange blocks to create unique pieces (and bring in old blocks from kiddos/thrift stores to add in to the fun) and have each person tell a story about their work as a casual form of #connection. --And naming their piece would make for a memorable experience. To make it a charitable #teambuilding activity, make the pieces and then take them to senior care centers as gifts. What #joy--and the #possibilities are endless.

Meet our new logo and tagline! After more than a year of heartfelt consideration and planning, we’re thrilled to introduce you to our refreshed branding. Our new logo and tagline reflect who we are today—welcoming, vibrant, modern—and unifies the breadth of our work. In addition to being a place for horticulture and beauty, the Garden leads pioneering plant conservation research, offers lifelong learning opportunities, and builds healthier communities through urban agriculture. The logo is an abstract depiction of a flower, originally inspired by the center of a coneflower (Echinacea). The colors, reflecting hues found throughout the Garden, represent key programs and concepts. With three powerful words—Plants. People. Planet.—our tagline ties together plants, people, and planet, which are at the center of everything we do. As the phrase goes, "Chasing butterflies makes them fly, but make a beautiful garden and they will come to you. In other words, the more you try to force something to happen, the more likely it is to slip through your fingers. "This whimsical saying holds a profound business lesson that can transform the way we approach success and growth. 🎙Creating a beautiful garden symbolizes building a strong foundation, cultivating a nurturing environment, and focusing on intrinsic value. It's about developing a solid business model, fostering a positive company culture, and delivering exceptional products or services. By doing so, you'll attract the "butterflies" – customers, partners and talent – naturally and sustainably. 🎙For businesses, this means focusing on creating value for your customers rather than just pushing products or services on them. Build a strong brand, provide excellent customer service and offer solutions to their problems. By doing this, you are building a beautiful garden that will attract customers to you naturally. So, the next time you feel tempted to chase after something or customers, remember that chasing butterflies makes them fly. Instead, focus on creating a beautiful garden in your business and watch as the butterflies – or customers – come to you. Chief Brand Expert | BusinessPastor
