One of the ways we’re working to change this is to partner with community health clinics that serve the most under-resourced communities, helping to ensure uninterrupted access to care. New study in #HSR from John Hoornbeek PhD, MPA et al enhance understanding of financial alignment challenges facing cross-sector partnerships (CSPs) pursuing health equity and offer insights to guide research and practice.  WHAT IS KNOWN Social determinants of health (SDOH) affects population health and must be addressed to improve health outcomes and enhance opportunities for reaching health equity.    WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS Confirms that sustainable financing and accountability are challenges for CSPs and suggests that certified Pathways Community HUB (PCH) leaders perceive greater financial alignment progress than do other CSP leaders, particularly in incentivizing accountable progress toward shared goals. CONCLUSION Findings suggest a need for public policy reviews and improvements to aid CSPs in addressing financial alignment challenges. We also offer a measurement framework and ideas to guide research and practice on financial alignment, based on empirical data. On the 8th and 9th March, I attended the online webinar hosted by the Global Health Workforce Network (GHWN), "UHC Global Youth Map: Health for All". The conference covered a wide range of issues concerned with youth in UHC including: ✓Supporting health emergency response preparedness ✓Digital health tools and generative AI in advancing the UHC agenda ✓Reimagining economic considerations and structures to finance Health for All ✓Nurturing a youth health workforce equipped to extend access equity The conference also included networking sessions where we were discussing the state of Universal Health Coverage in the different countries and brainstorming some of the ways that we as youth can promote Universal Health Coverage in our different countries. The day 1 networking session hosted by Adriana Viola Miranda involved a discussion on UHC focusing on the countries the participants were part of. The topics covered in both days of the networking session included; 1. Youth's role in advancing UHC 2. UHC Tools for Health Security: Resilient and People-Centred Health Systems 3. Planetary Health Action: Protecting our Climate to Protect Health Equity 4. Financing health for all: Transforming towards more equitable and accessible healthcare 5. What is Health in All Policies? HiAP is an approach that integrates health considerations into policymaking across all sectors to improve the health of all communities and people. We have published the results of the National Engagement on Digital Health and Social Care, a project undertaken in partnership with the Department of Health - Ireland of Health and the Health Service Executive. The project aimed to understand the opinions and attitudes of the Irish public and professionals on a digital approach to health and social care.  We surveyed over 1,000 professionals working in health and social care and held focus groups with 27 professionals. The results showed that professionals think online health records will empower people to be more in control of their health. 88% of professionals think the public will be better informed about their health 88% think the public will be better prepared to ask questions. While some professionals (32%) felt that the public may not be ready interact digitally, 83% of professionals would feel comfortable interacting digitally provided that they were trained with the relevant digital tools. The findings from this engagement will inform our work in health information, as well as informing the development and provision of digital health systems and services in Ireland by Department of Health - Ireland and Health Service Executive.  Read the full results at https://lnkd.in/eNyNaeED

Leadership and Health: The place of Equity-driven Leadership Achieving health equity is dependent on good health policies, effective and efficient service delivery, and the availability of trained human resource (to mention but a few). Fortunately (or mostly unfortunately), these are primarily driven by political will vis-a-vis, leadership/style. For a population to enjoy universal health coverage with good, available, accessible, and affordable healthcare services, decision makers must come up with sustainable health policies that are backed by the political will to implement, monitor, and evaluate (on continuous basis). Health equity is defined as the attainment of the highest level of health for all people. It is the state in which everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health. Health equity can only be attained through equity-driven leadership in the health sector and all other related sectors of the economy. Equity-driven leadership is a transformative approach that prioritizes justice, inclusivity, and equity in all aspects of organizational or societal decision-making. It involves actively working to identify and address systemic inequalities and barriers that prevent certain groups from fully participating, succeeding, and gaining from that which is their due. Universal health coverage is a means to achieve health equity, and this can be achieved through equity-driven leadership. To truly advance #healthequity, we already know that involvement across the healthcare spectrum is required, and that it involves both public and private stakeholders. On the public side of that equation is the National Governors Association, which recently reported on "innovative approaches and communication strategies states and territories are using to address health equity needs." As their report says, "[The] National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) explored ways states and territories are addressing and communicating about health equity." The results of their virtual workshop, in-person roundtable, and other efforts provides an interesting view of what some specific states are doing to address health disparities within their borders.
