First day back at work from the holiday vacation? Looking for a way to engage your team and help them succeed in the new year? Sharing goals with others is a great way to help keep you on track and get the support you need to reach them. On New Year's Eve, my family has a tradition of sharing two goals for the upcoming year: one serious and one funny. It's one of my favorite holiday traditions. It allows us to reflect both personally and as one. Try this out with your team! Have each person share one personal and one professional goal and make a note of what you can do to support someone's journey. #GoalSetting #2025Goals #NewYearsIntentions

Back in the office today, after a week away in St.Ives, which can only mean one thing… Holiday number two is officially over and so are my trips to sunnier climates! (for this year anyway) 😅 It’s always a strange one when the summer holidays end as you only really have two or three months of solid work before the gin comes out and the Christmas festivities begin. It’s important to use this time to reflect and set yourself up for success going into 2025. Here are three things I’ll be getting in check, before the end of the year, now I’m back from the last of my summer hols: 🌞 Current Processes & Plan For The Year Ahead It can be easy to return from your holiday and slip into the same thing as before your break. By taking a moment to assess current processes and ways of working, you can make any necessary improvements to ensure you are moving forward and not staying stagnant in your day-to-day. 🌞 Client Meetings & Catch-Ups It won’t just be you that’s taken time away from work, the clients we work with would have done too. Throughout this period, there is likely to have been changes within their business whether this be with new hires or their business goals. Use this time to realign and set targets so you can both achieve what you need to achieve. 🌞 Goals At the start of the year we all set goals but January was nine months ago and a lot would have changed by now with things being achieved and personal/business goals shifting. Now is a great time to review them, set new milestones or keep old milestones at the top of mind to have the best chance of hitting them before 2025. — By focusing on these areas, you'll be able to close out the working year strong and be in the position to book next years holiday too 😉 For me, I’m thinking it’ll be two week vacay to Italy! #recruitment #recruiting #customersuccess

I'm off on holiday tomorrow - a much needed break after having to postpone it from earlier in the year due to circumstances beyond anyone's control! But that got me thinking about how other business leaders treat holidays? Do you completely switch off? Are you in frequent contact with the office? Occasional contact? Or not at all? I know 100% that no-one from my team will be on contact with me when I am away. Perhaps if a site burnt down they may be, but not otherwise. In fact, I learned very early on in my business career, that holidays were a good opportunity for people to grow. Give someone else one of my normal tasks whilst I am away, and they generally did a great job. So much so, that they could keep it permanently when I got back. One less thing for me to do. Win-win. It comes down to how much you trust your people. So, how many times do you contact people from your business when away? Every day? Every other day? Once a week? Or not at all? Let me know. (I hope it's the latter!)

🎄 Work, Joy, Repeat – Holiday Edition! 🎄 As the year comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on how fortunate I am to be part of a team as amazing as Stolt. Sure, we work hard (very hard!), but we also know the secret to thriving as a team: bringing positive energy, good vibes, and a sense of humor to everything we do. And sometimes, that means pausing to create moments of pure joy—holiday-themed or otherwise—that remind us of the power of connection. 🎥 (Yes, that’s us in action—don’t miss the video!) We all know the workplace can be demanding. Deadlines and challenges are often outside our control, but what’s always within our control is how we show up: with kindness, a team-first attitude, and the intention to build an environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported. Looking back on an incredible year filled with milestones and teamwork, I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved together. A huge shoutout to our team and leadership for creating a space where success and joy coexist—and where we’re motivated to do even more in the year ahead! Here’s to a fantastic 2024 filled with growth, wins, and plenty of moments that make us smile. Wishing you all a holiday season full of happiness, laughter, and maybe a few dance moves. 🕺🎄 #HolidayCheer #Teamwork #WorkplaceCulture #ThankfulAndMotivated #PositiveWorkCulture

Do you work to live or live to work? I don't know about you but you can't help but over hear conversations on the train. Most of the time it's white noise that gets tuned out by the rumble of train on tracks as the countryside whizzes past....(thought; oh they actually got permission to build on the old chemical factory?!). Just this week there were two colleagues turned friends (I also make up the back stories and context of my people watching...or is that my profiling brain never switching off.... I'll let you judge me on that one) having a chat about birthday get togethers, the frustrations of attending things when there's no direct train route and holidays. The holiday chat is what drew me in and got my full attention. 'she took 3 weeks off, I mean, does she not how much work that leaves for everyone else'. What struck me the most is that that was me about 25 years ago. Feeling stuck in a council job that sucked every bit of joy from my soul, I'd internally moan about others choices. Urgh, everything was happening 'to me'. They'd clearly made a selfish choice and not thought about others. Never mind the small thing that YOU get a holiday allocation and YOU get to use it how you want. The to-do list will always be there. You won't. Fast forward to now, crikey, I take holidays and breaks when I blinkin well please. I love what I do but time is a non renewable resource so I'm going to go on the ski holiday, take many long weekends to go away in my campervan, take a random Wednesday off to catch up with friends or have a lie in on a Friday morning so I can make the most of my weekend. At the end, you're not going to regret taking those 3 weeks off to carry the workload, you'll regret not taking more time for you. Do the thing and maybe, more importantly, respect when others decide to do their thing. Work to live, don't live to work. **** I'm Cat and I take as many breaks, naps and holidays as humanly possible. Working to live so my headstone isn't just dates, but a life CV filled with joy and experiences and laughter and all the things.

The Year-End Pause—A Time to Reflect, Recharge, and Reconnect As the year winds down, I always find myself stepping back to soak in the moments that truly matter. For me, year-end vacations aren’t just about taking a break—they’re about pressing reset and celebrating the journey we’ve had so far. It’s that rare time of the year when I can let go of schedules, step away from deadlines, and fully focus on what fuels my soul—family, memories, and meaningful connections. Roaming the streets, exploring new corners of a city, and chasing laughter with my son remind me why we work so hard in the first place. Evenings spent playing games, sharing meals, and enjoying unfiltered conversations with my better half become the highlights that I carry into the new year. These moments aren’t just breaks—they’re the building blocks of clarity and inspiration for the road ahead. They remind me that success isn’t just measured by goals achieved but also by the quality of life we create along the way. So, as we wrap up the year, I encourage everyone to pause and savor the little things - the smiles, the stories, and the simple joys that make life truly rich. After all, a well-spent year deserves a well-earned break. How do you spend your year-end vacations? I’d love to hear your thoughts and traditions! #vacations

It’s been a whirlwind year, but think about how you can bring a little festivity into the office. It doesn’t have to be a big whole thing because that can be a little much, right? But something to show the team you appreciate them and the hard work that they’ve put in over the last year would be a great way to round out the year. And do the same for clients! Small tokens of gratitude (though maybe not the standard desk calendar; we’ve had enough of those) are great ways to show how much you cherish their business. Happy holidays! #holidays #business #ClientRelationships #morale #BusinessTips
